In Response to Re: Iggy Update!:
[QUOTE]Just let Iggy play. We are in last place. What are we waiting for? Middlebrooks, Iggy, Pedroia, Gonzalez, and Lavarnaway. That is your starting infield. Keep Salty and Aviles as back ups. There is no reason to keep that kid in AAA - this team will not win a championship. They will not make the playoffs. If you are not a play off team - why keep players stuck in Pawtuckett?

Maybe you should have waited a week or so before making that pronouncement and avoided all the sarcastic remarks from the rest of us.
The Sox payroll dictates that management not declare any year as "we ain't going to the playoffs" year.
Moreover, the lineup has been consistently productive this year and is second in the AL in runs produced. In addition, the bullpen has been lights out for over a month. The only real problem has been with starting pitching, and it is coming around, Buchholz's so-so start last night notwithstanding. All five of the current rotation have in fact had good games and bad games.
And why in the wide, wide world would you want to bench Aviles and Saltalamachia when both are having excellent seasons, in the field and in the batter's box? If Iglesias and Lavarnway are indeed the future, why not let them develop further while Aviles and Salty give the Sox a shot at a playoff slot and, just as important, demonstrate their future trade value?
