They must have a great scouting system to pull that off.

The Sox seem to be moving in that direction along with some other prospects.

Most of the key players on the Cards were not homegrown.

Matt Holliday, Adam Wainwright, Chris Capenter, Kyle Lohse, David Freese, Carlos Beltran, Rafael Furcal, Jake Westbrook all came from other organizations.

A couple others, like Mark Rzepczynski, also came from outside as well...

I count at least 14 outsiders who are on baseball reference's list of 28 players on their roster page.

Free Agents: Holliday, Lohse, Westbrook, Beltran, Carpenter, Furcal, Berkman, Linebrink, Romero,  Salas,

    Trade: Wainwright, Freese, Rzepczynski

    Rule 5: Komatsu

Yeah but think about it, the Rays probably have that many just about too, besides maybe their Bullpen and a couple others.

Its more like the other way around...Over half the roster is originally from outside the organization. like 15 guys...
