I thought the gun was broken, but Colome is throwing mid 90's. I understand Lackey is taking it slow and easy, but didn't I read he was throwing 93 this offseason?

No dump. I am optimistic Lackey, if healthy, is good for 15 wins. I was simply surprised at the readings on the gun. Then Jenny interviewed him and he said he grew nothing but fastballs. Just wondering if the gun was off the first half of the inning?

I didn't see those readings. I saw 55 and t bought the gun was broken. If you saw high 80's maybe I missed some of his 20 pitches. Did you also see the 55 readings? I knowI wasn't seeing things.

I think he hit mid 90's a couple times...

Gun is broken. Whenever you see that in a game, add 30 MPH. This happens in the minor leagues all the time. Unless it's Padilla. Then it might actually be 55.

Rule of thumb when you see a major league, minor league, college, highschool or junior high pitcher (other than Wake) hit 55mph on a gun watch the next pitch it most likely will be higher than that.

I 2nd that. Kid bulked up a bit and its noticeable. 

Iggy has hit throughout the minors and as Ive said all along, I have no worries with him hitting 250+ in MLB.

Yes, the gun was registering in the 50's.  It was off, as he was clearly throwing in the high 80's.  About 88 - 89.  Not great velocity, but he did seem to be hitting his spots on the final out.  The big problem with Lackey, is the lack of movement on his ball.  If you've got no movement, you better be hitting your spots every time, a la Folke.

I feel better about him than I did at he end of last season, when I wanted him drawn & quartered, but I still don't expect better than a 4.50 ERA.  The only way he wins 14 - 15, as in 2010, is if we score 6+ runs in each win.  Just as we did in 2010.  NOT LIKELY!

Having said all that, I don't hate him yet.  Give it time.....  I will root like hell for him, but don't hold out much hope???
