    Is Swish coming to Fenway?

I hope so--there's the possibility he may sign a one year deal and try FA again next season. He has a 4 year $52  with Cleveland and something in Seattle on the table.

Could the Sox go one year and $17? with an Opt out Yr. 2 or a guaranteed $14 yr.2. At least there's a back up plan if Nap falls through. Unless Ben has that base covered with Garrett Jones coming with Hanrahan.

Doubtful. Ben's been seriously trying to keep all his draft picks this year and Swisher would cost a dreaf pick.

If hes offered 4/52M, he probably wouldnt take a 1 year deal.

How much damage can he do with Cleveland against the Sox--not nearly as much as when he played us 18 or 19 games a season. He would have been a fun player to root for.

BREAKING: Nick Swisher has agreed to a four-year, $56 million deal with the Indians. Vesting $14M option for a 5th year could make it $70M.

Wow, 4 years of the drum. Swish gets his payday.

They basically replaced Choo with Swisher. That is a downgrade, to me, as Choo is a better all-around player than Swisher.

At worst, it's even, and CL flipped Choo for Bauer.

Yep....it's an overpay.  But in really.....name a FA signing that has NOT been an overpay so far.  People are VERY quick to say the Sox over-payed for Naps, SA and Dempster.....but the reality is they got the EXACT deals that all FA have been getting so far.  Could you imagine the carnage around here if BC decided to pay Swish $70 million over 5 years?!?!  HAHA!!!!!  Instead he got player almost as good as him and got them to give up the extra year by going for a little bit more in salary.....to me that was EXCELLENT.  And now if you look at the money people are getting now...the deals he made almost seem like a bargain in terms of money!! (other than Gomes.....I just don't get that one....)

Could be, Cleveland traded Choo because they couldn't sign him.

    Personally I'd prefer Choo's defense.

But I appreciate Nick's time in NY and wish him luck with the Indians.

I believe Swish played to the best of abilities when he was in NY and is a decent complimentary player but not a franchise player.

I think Swisher getting mid-level money confirms what I've been saying right along and that is he is not as well regarded in the game as some thought he was.

If he was a s good as some Yankees fans thought that he was he would have double that contract.

That's a pretty good deal for Swisher and he gets to go back to Ohio (he went to Ohio State).

I've been to Ohio and there is nothing much over there besides corn fields and delicious bakeries.  LOL

Swisher would have been a much better fit than Gomes even if we gave a pick "but like Ross" a three or four year deal wasn't worth it.
