actually, with lackeys league minimum clause his salary goes down if you spread it over 3 years instead of 2.

Speculation, on Lackey and still being on the roster, but he and Dumpster cost nearly 30 million for 2013. That's a fact.

    oh.

Long term horizon is way more relevant.  What did you want the sox to do? Pay 25 million a year for a head case or an alcoholic? No disrespect to Hamilton or Grienkee.

Big picture...ok pay attention here softy....$30 million committed in 2015.....that's it!.  So the sox will have $159 million per annum to spend by 2015.  When they see a big bat/arm they like that they can augment with the prospects coming up....they will pull the trigger.

Nice, so 300 million plus for two bridge years, to get to 2015.

When 2015 comes, I'll have no more confidence then than I do in the architects of a quarter of billlion dollars spent for zero playoff wins.

who cares? it's not your money. and if they had a payroll os 100Mil their ticket prices wouldn't go down.. it doesn't matter how much they spend as long as it doesn't get in the way of signing kep players (which is hasn't. this year at least)

    It's getting in the way.

Also, it was 3/4 of a billion spent for zero playoff wins, not 1/4 of a billion. Please note that correct, thank you.

How much did they spend on the two WS wins?

We need to find that out so then the Red sox can spend that much next year.

    Re: Is this possible?

I think people like softy completely misunderstand the idea of a bridge year.  Bridge year yearns you aren't competing in their eyes.  Yeah...you could have spent your money wiser at SS, but 10 mil for one year is short duration and doesn't debilitate the payroll long term with guys like Bogaerts coming up and if Drew has a career average year....they get good production out of the position.
