well, if theo can be a GM, then i see no reason the rest of us can't.
note to john henry: "i could do just as bad a job as theo's doing at a far less salary. actually, i'm not sure anybody could do that lousy a job; theo's has certainly raised the bar for ineptness. JH, do yourself a financial favor and fire the bum."
what say you, bill? -

Don't trade Miller. Keep him in the rotation. Wake to the pen until someone else goes on the DL which is almost certain to happen.
Reddick has been hot since called up but he was batting just .230 in AAA this year. He scares me a bit. And he bats left so he's not the Right handed power hitter.
Who's going to trade for JD Drew - a guy making $13 million that can't hit his weight? The only way you can trade him is if you package him with young talent and either eat his salary or the Sox pick up a player with a high salary with more years left.
The only option with JD Drew is DFA.
If Reddick keeps playing the way he has, then adios Drew. The thing about Drew is that I think if he spent more time on the bench, he wouldn't be a disruption. if his reaction to striking out is any indication, then he would sit quietly and work to get himself back on track.
So, give Reddick more at bats. Sit Drew. If Reddick pans out, then DFA Drew. If Reddick doesn't work out a trade can be made for a RH right fielder, then DFA Drew. If Reddick doesn't pan out and Drew gets back on track, then Reddick goes back to AAA and Drew starts.
If reddick doesn't pan out, then they have to make a trade because they don't have any other options for RF for the long term. Either way, Drew won't be in RF next year. So if Reddick isn't the guy, then make a trade for some who can be. -

Playing Reddick more and continuing to start Miller--of course. There isn't much of a decision in either case. What's kept Drew in the lineup against righties is Crawford being on the DL. When he returns, Reddick will probably claim the RF slot.
The tough decision is how many outfielders to keep. So far Theo and Francona have kept five outfielders, whereas most clubs keep just four. When Crawford comes off the DL, they will have six: Crawford, Ellsbury, Reddick, Drew, Cameron, and McDonald. I think Cameron is the smart pick to DFA, despite his $7.7M salary, but the real question is whether Theo should get rid of two of the six outfielders available. Given that Ellsbury, Crawford, and Reddick all hit from the left side, I think keeping one righty, McDonald, makes sense. But letting both Drew and Cameron, who are paid over $21M, go is a very tough call.
My guess is that Theo will keep five outfielders and that it's a toss-up between Cameron and McDonald as to who goes. -

Here is an easy decision: Get rid of Cameron and DSuck. They are both terrible. DSuck getting a double with no one on and Sox down 5-0 is like A-Roid hitting a 3 run HR when they are up 10-1. Its meaningless. When is the last time he got a clutch hit. Get rid of them both NOW. -

Keeping righty, McDonald makes no sense. 1 for 10 isn't a right handed hitter. You could do that. Should you play instead of a left handed HITTER?
assuming you're right handed. -
