[QUOTE]Concord - Salty - respectable 1st season at age only 26 (young for a catcher) Agon - top talent Pedey - top talent Youk - top talent not drafted by Theo, but signed cheap and long SS - gap CC - looks bad, but gotta give it time Ells - MVP and FU to Softy...double win! JD - overpaid, but decent return Papi - what's to say? Lester Buch Beckett - either Theo DID make the deal to get him, or he DIDN'T give up the SS we've lacked Bard Paps Surely that's a decent CV (resume)....not to mention 2 national championships (plus Toronto)?

Drew (what return? That one month, or the 1 GS in five years people trumpet?)
None of those signed for less than 8 mil per season (Maybe Jenks only
got 2/12), none offered any real worth to the Sox.
Theo's biggest success at signing a big name free agent?
And there's not even a close second.
Not talking trades, just high level FA signings. His track record is pretty horrible.
Farm development? No complaints there.
Trades? Highs and lows any GM should expect.
But high level FA signings? Simply awful. Also consider he DIDN'T resign Victor Martinez or Beltre, who each helped their teams into the playoffs (and WS in Beltre's case) and his major league talent evaluation takes ANOTHER huge hit. Add Derek Lowe to that list, he's what Epstein WISHES Lackey actually was. SS has been one collosal failure. Nomar/Orlando Cabrera/Renteria/Alex Gonzalez/Lugo/Alex Gonzalez/Scutaro/Lowrie...yikes. Figure it out.
Overall, solid GM, just don't let him sign ANYONE for more than 8per on the open market.
