Right you are Spider-Man. The red flops have swooned once again in September. Remember 1978?

As much as I think the Sox need another SP, right now who else besides Aceves and Papelbon do they have in the pen?  The man is a contribtutor as it is...

I'm afraid it's over. The R.S. keep finding themselves in a 5or6 run hole. The pitching coach[Lackey's a great guy] has lost his credentials, as has Francona for not giving Aceves a starting role, and many other mistakes.  All that money for nothing. How about Detroit, with Martinez playing a central part of their success? Now, if Francona stepped down, and Schilling took over, Just maybe???????

    Way to hang in there.
And Schilling?!? What, because he's a former Red Sox player? Why not Rich Gedman, who actually does have some coaching experience?

Bring in Bill Lee and have done with it. He could be manager and pitching coach.

1-Aceves has both started and relieved for us, and has been about 10x as valuable relieving.

2-I'm glad for VMart.  But what does that have to do with the RS.  Salty is a much better catcher, and Papi is a much better DH.  Now, if he could pitch or play RF, maybe you'd have a point.

    Re: It's over

Red Sox could have brought in a strong defensive veteran catcher to backup VMart.

    VMart: 2011  Catcher 110 games     Age 32    14M   OPS+ 127
                        DH  20 games
                        1B  10 games

2012  If Ortiz is still healthy repeat 2011 allocation Age 33  14M

2013 Ortiz likely gone or final diminshed time role Age 34   12M
                       Catcher 60 games
                       DH 60 games
                       1B 15 games

               2014  Ortiz gone                               Age 35  12M
                        Catcher 40
                        DH  80
                        1B  15

Tigers had a Dh opening and needed a backup catcher. Great value signing. Tigers have what Red Sox don't have, a top notch young catcher.

Theo is an idot for not re-signing VMart after trading Masterson. Perfect transition player and contract for Papi career aging out.

Instead, he goes out and makes the biggest GM contract mistake in Red Sox history in Carl Crawford. VMart is best from Right side, and Red Sox had Ellsbury and Reddick and Kalish and will need a star young Rh slugging OF'er long term.

Worse than the Jeff Bagwell trade? Or the Matt Clement contract? I'm not saying your wrong, you might be right....but I would say give it more than one year before making that statement. Although that being said CC has been pretty bad.

Many in this forum hate Schilling since they have short attention spans and have trouble understanding a brilliant person who tells it like it is. They would be all over Schilling as a manager. If they hate announcers who talk too much just think of how they would despise Schilling responding with two paragraphs as to why he left a pitcher in for an extra inning.
