At one point Bill stated Ciriaco was a better DH than Ortiz. Bill if Ortiz is on the opening day roster will you take the month of April off from posting?

And we needed a new thread on this why?
Because some of you "T-BALLERS" still think that "BIG PAPI" will be the starting D H on April 1st....... I think not !! Ben & J F needs to dust off plan B ........ Actually, will provide for a better lineup !!! The day of the "backhoe D H" are over !!!
And we've already seen you say this 100,000 times. Do you think repeating it for the 100,001st time is going to make people agree with you T-Baller?
Only because some of you "ICE CREAMERS" are sort of resisting the CHANGE !!!

Dad always says, management needs to manage to win games. Worrying about a year more of minor league ball and a tiny sample of MLB games to get another cheap year a half a decade from now is not management.

Its not so much about a year of control as it is playing 100% of the time. Theres no use of him playing even 75-80% of the time in LF or RF when he can play all the time in AAA...That and I doubt if JBJ doesnt play in Boston for the first couple months so he can keep that extra year of control will hurt the Sox at all...

Bill you are officially trolling on Big Papi now.
You made your point (barely), now it's time to step back and see how it plays out.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said Jackie Bradley Jr. is expected to begin the season in the minors.
That the 22-year-old outfielder will start the year in the minor leagues isn't exactly big news, but Bradley Jr. has opened some eyes this spring. He's 10-for-20 thus far, and with David Ortiz' status for Opening Day in doubt, there was some thought that Bradley Jr. might earn a look in his stead. He may not be on the Opening Day roster, but Bradley Jr.'s time in the Fenway outfield is near.Re: JACKIE BRADLEY JR. can thank

......if Papi is on the DL then Naps will DH. still doesn't open up a spot in the OF for JBJ anyway so the point is moot.
papi has no bearing on JBJ. period.

Aceves possibly hurt in that fight with Canada in the WBC....
Possibly opening up another spot for JBJ.
Looks like JBJ will definitely be a starter in April Billy.
Good call! ;)

"Unelss he can play everyday". All management has to do is put Bradley, Jr. in RF and play him everyday. Gomes and that bum Shane need to platoon in LF. Management isn't going to do that, which isn't the point of this thread. The point of this thread is that management is incompetent. They have proven that they are in incompetent.

Papi had MRI's yesterday on both heels. When are they going to release results? The positive hype about his rehab was a bit premature but so is claiming "he's done." We need more info.

"platooning" shane and gomes together is not platooning them at all but wasting talent. with our current configuration we can maxamize EVERYONES (JBJ included) talent. bonus that we get an extra year from JBJ in the long run and when he does start in the MLB he is ready to make an instant impact and not struggle as much while he adjusts to MLB pitching. Due to the fact that he continues his development in the minors.
