OOPS, Jensen was the 1954 Centerfielder for the Red Sox, and finished 14th in league MVP voting.

And who finished 2nd in AL MVP voting in 2011?

You are absolutely correct.  However, if you examine his total body of work while with the Sox, you will see the number of games where he spent most of his time.

                         LF        CF      RF

    1954              8         107     44

    1955              -           -       150

    1956              -          -        156

    1957             7          -        142

    1958             2          -        153

    1959             -          7        142

    1961             2         -         129

For his entire 11-year career, including his time with the Yankees and Senators, he played 54 games in LF, 158 in CF, and 1205 in RF.

I think it's safe to categorize him as a right-fielder.

I think it's safe not to categorize him as "a right-fielder". It's safe to categorize him as "an OF'er".

While with the Sox, Jensen played 87% of the time in RF and 11% of his games in CF, (all of which occured in 1954 - 107 and 1959 - 7)

If you feel it's a diservice to categorize him as a right-fielder and prefer outfielder, I'm cool with that.

It won't in anyway dim my memories of sitting in the bleachers, and when I got lucky finding a seat in the right-field stands, and watching Jackie patrol right field like a cop on the block.

    In response to eltiante1's comment:

He was the Red Sox Centerfielder in 1954. The need to "categorize" him as a "career RF'er" is meaningless.

Ted Williams played right field in 1939. Categorize that!
