    Jacoby is out again?

Anyone have any more info on why Jacoby is still out.  He apparently got hit by an 88 MPH fastball in the middle of his back.

think the ball hit right on the spinal bones or on the rib or upper bone!!!   It is not like it hit on the muscle part.  If it was hit on the muscle part, he would play the next day.

Samething when someone throw at the knee where a hitter is usually out for one to three games!!

It would be just our luck, but either way it would be nice for the team to release something on his condition.

I called him 'injury prone' before and got yelled at.

Perhaps that was not the right term.

    Maybe "fragile"???

Just maybe they want to release it later for their own reasons or it might be just another day of rest ( no news). Maybe they want to give it to Heidi so that she will have some material in the pregame.

It's funny how every article says that "88 mph fastball" bit as if to imply that it wasn't even a fast fastball.  As others have said, I have been worrying that it hit that one rib in his back that Beltre broke along w/ the 4 in the front.

I actually work for NESN Phil as an IT Tech and haven't heard anything except a bruised back.  Like you said hopefully something is said later.

This kid has thrown his body around in the field and on the base paths for the Sox all season; had a terrific year; and some folks still can't resist calling him fragile. What losers!

    Re: Jacoby is out again?

Yep.  Anyone who would call him fragile after that pitch never faced a pitch over 70 mph, much less get drilled in the back with one.

So for a player to be tough, the ball has to hit his face?

    Funny stuff.

i made sure when i played little league ball to jump out of the way of every pitch so that i wouldnt get hit...that might be why i didnt play a whole lot...

My pleasure. Should be interesting what the Sox plans are for Clay. He's a valuable arm so they probably don't want to rush him back. Sounds like he'll be ready for the playoffs though.

I had a gut feeling he would when I first heard he was out for the season.  I hope he does and wish him the best.  It could be huge if he is healthy

Healthy is not necessarily sharp. Before he's put in a late-season or playoff game, the Sox will make sure that he's not throwing BP. You definitely don't want him coming in from the pen if he's not been throwing good strikes. But you're right. It could be huge if he's healthy and effective.

I agree expitch, I think we all want a completely healthy and sharp Clay before he returns.  No sense putting his future health in jeopardy just to rush him back.
