In Response to Jed Lowrie is back on the GL:
[QUOTE]After starting the year on the GL, goldbricker's list, Lowrie is back on it with an ankle sprain. Lowrie is expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks. Lowrie is hitting .253, and is an elite All-Star SS. He has never played more than 88 games in a season. It appears as though he won't play more than about 80 to 90 games this year. Lowrie is pushing 30 but this career UIF'er doesn't have but about 3 years of MLB service time. The Astros tried to get rid of him but no team wanted his 1 million plus arbitration contract because of he problem with showing up for work. Lowrie has been a MLB high round supp pick bust, without one single season of over 100 games played and strong numbers in any offensive or defensive category. His main interest is labor law from the MLBPA viewpoint. That figures, given his problem with showing up for work.

Sounds a lot like the closer we got from the A's. Hasn't played a whole season in 3 years, and is oft injured.

He already missed 15 games this year due he was on DL earlier this season, and now he is back on DL.  So now all Red Sox fans can now stop whining over Ben C. made a bad deal.

Imagine he is playing for the Red Sox, he would be the 30th players on DL this year!!!

Only one Sox player has more WAR then him for 2012.  His 39 walks equals Pedroia and Aviles combined.

    Dirty play, spiked!

    Added: 07/14/2012Duration: 02:46
7/14/12: Jed Lowrie is forced to exit the game in the third after suffering an ankle injury fielding a relay throw at second base

I'm sure this doesn't shock anyone. Not a dirty play just good hard baseball, he's trying to break up the play not do a pop up slide.

softy's trying to have it both ways...again.

1st he said Lowrie was a bum.

Then, he said we shpould have got more for him than Melancon.

    Now, Lowrie's a bum again.

How is that worse than your suggestions that we offer $1M to pitchers that all signed for more than $3M a year? Great plan! Offer players contracts based on 1980 prices is a wonderful plan at building a good team.

    Silly clown. Get a clue.

BTW, our entire starting staff has an ERA close to 5.00.

It's nice how sure you are that Wake would have done worse than these guys:

    5 GS   6.65  1.348
    20 GS 5.46  1.463
    10 GS 5.30  1.620

35 GS'd all worse than Wake's 2010-2011 numbers. All paid more than $1M this year.

Even Buch and Doubie have WHIP's of 1.402.

I've never seen a clown gloat more about being at most half right on one issue than softy the clown.

Go back to Russia you Trotskyite!

To this day, Wakefield could make a legitimate case to be on the Sox pitching staff THIS YEAR.

Sure, he would fit right in. 5 innings 5 earned runs.

Lowrie is #4 among all MLB SS's in WAR.  Another EPIC FAIL by Softy.

EPIC FAIL #1 Ellsbury should sit on the bench while Cam starts.
EPIC FAIL #2 Lowrie is #4 in WAR.
EPIC FAIL #3 We need to trade the farm for Hanley, who just got traded for nothing, and has less HRs than Lowrie.

Then shouldn't the theme of this thread be that the Sox were smart to trade him?

For me Jed was a great, double great high school player, and outstanding PAC 10 player. During that time frame I don't recall him being injured. But, seemed like since he hit the bigs it has been on continuos injury.

I'd just like to see him complete one full year, to see what could have been.

Lowrie has a better OPS and more HRs than..... Gonzo. Lowrie is a really bad SS. No range. Bad feet. At best, a utility infielder.

    Lowrie is definitely fragile.

Except when compared to the current Sox roster.
