Jerry Hairston wants player suspended for this play

I think it's within the rules, but still a little overzealous. What do you guys think?

Hard to tell from that clip but it didn't look like Hairston was even trying to turn a double play.

I'd call it at best a borderline dirty play but I'm not in favor of suspension.  I am in favor of Goldschimdt taking a fastball between the shoulder blades next time they play.

I'd call it borderline too.  He did make contact with the bag so he has that going for him.  But..... His number will be remembered that's for sure.

Looked to me like he got caught a little in between.....not sure he was trying to make harmful contact.....but he probably will get dusted anyway.

Don't be a little b*tch Harriston. Sad that he complains to the league about this, he wasn't even spiked. Let it be settled the next time these two teams play. PG will be plunked and life will go on.

Hope your boo-boo's are okay Jerry, pathetic move on his part.

Wthin the rules. I was a middle infielder and that sort of thing happened frequently. If I was running I'd do my best to break up the DP. Good play IMO. Wouldn't need the pitcher to retaliate. Next time I saw him on the bases I'd go head-hunting myself.

Posted by jete02fan[/QUOTE] besides, this year i've seen two rolling blocks on Cano with less contact than that..

suspension worthy...no worthy of getting drilled with a fastball in his next at bat...yes

I agree with Hairston.  Runner intended injury.  Fielder was not blocking 2B.

First reaction was it was a dirty play.  Upon further review, not as sure.  Didn't think he needed to be as high with the leg, and he could have hurt Hairston.  Not a play seen so often.
