I too was hoping he would slog along and take up cap room for a couple of years.

That said he is one of the all time greats and as a Sox fan the player I feared most at the plate in big moments for most of his career

Another Yankee for who's greatness we will be forced to acknowledge in a long, drawn-out glorification of a farewell tour.

Will all teams be required to give him a ball girl at the end of each road series?

This is great news for A-rod. Now he can return in 2015  to the position he was meant to play---SS. The Yank-ems will lose nothing in range covering.

Sadly for Jeter, he'll have to wait 22 years before he's eligible for Social Security.

[/QUOTE] LOL!!.. i think it's safe to say Alex's SS days are long gone, got too bulky.. and especially having had hip surgery..

I predict that the Yankees will now sign Stephen Drew to a three year 36 million dollar contract with an option for a fourth year with a five million dollar buyout.

One of the best ever. Sad to see him go, and he'll get a huge standing ovation in Fenway.

I predict Drew will now sign a 1-year contract with the Sox, with an implicit term that they will not offer a QO, and he'll move over to NYY next year.

Very strange negative comments by far too many

he was a great competitor and one that would have looked good in a Red Sox uniform.

good luck to a first ballot HOF.
