Derek Jeter To Retire After 2014 By  Jeff Todd [February 12 at 1:11pm CST]

Legendary Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter announced today on his Facebook page that he will retire after the 2014 season (hat tip to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News, whose colleague Mark Feinsand tweets that agent Casey Close has confirmed the retirement). Jeter, who turns 40 in June, re-signed with the Yankees -- the only franchise he's ever played for -- earlier in the off-season

Anyone who follows the game knows that Jeter is a HOF'er, so the guys that leave him off their ballots should have their voting rights taken away.

Jeter ends his career in magnificent style - never having to play another professional baseball game with A-Fraud!

    I disagree youk

I won't look at it as disrepect to jeter

I will see as respect to all those other greats who were not unanimous

Both Mariano Rivera and Derek Jeter are unanimous Hall of Famers.

Greg Maddux should have been an unanimous Hall of Famer.

The fact that someone didn't vote for him is an utter farce. We should know who did it and take away their right to vote for this going forward.

Better yet, I would like to hear their excuse for leaving him off the ballot.
