"Open flesh wound around the ankle"

Yikes. Compound ugliness it sounds like. I wonder how comparable this is to Kendry Morales' injury. Both were ankles. Both are bigger guys and probably suffered the injury in similar ways.

    Just ugly. I think he's kind of a j e r k on the field, but d a m n, that sounds nasty.

I'd be surprised to see him pitching this year.  At this point in his TJ rehab, he needs to be throwing, which is awfully difficult on 1 leg.  Hope I'm proven wrong and that he recovers quickly.

Never was the sharpest tool in the shed. And clearly Jenks must be right next to him in the tool cabinet.

Unfortuneately for Joba, we will only remember him for the "bug game" in Cleveland when the gnats were all over him. He had such promise, all seemingly gone due to horrendous handling by the Yankee Management (You are a reliever, you are a starter, you are a reliever, you are a starter) then Tommy John, now this. Wow.

Actually, it was a shoulder injury that seems to be where everything started to go wrong, not the handling by Yankee Management.

Yankee fans in this forum should be applauded in not blaming every single injury on management. Only Red Sox regulars here do that.

not true, plenty of Sox regs that do no such thing...lamenting injuries and placing blame for them is not the same thing...

Many on the forum over the last few years have blamed the rash of injuries on conditioning coaches, trainers,  decisions to play someone injured too early, signing someone without studyiing medical records, medical staff, Dr. Gill, and even Mass. General Hosp. You see scapegoating is great fodder for controversial threads and posts instead of blaming most injuries on unfortunate luck. There must have been hundreds of threads about placing blame on management.

Yes, the handling of him by the Yankee management was surely responsible for him slipping on the mound while trying to avoid a throw from pudge to 2nd base and injuring his shoulder. They should have been there to catch him.
