kinda wish it was still 2008... his current performance is the only relevant predictor, though ill live or die with him just like all of us will...

becketts recents are more disturbing, cy young did it for many years, some of these guys are called "aces" after a couple great years. halladay is an ace. no offense to our guys, they are just inconststently great.

Strongest criteria is entire body of work as a RedSox.
Beckett: 84-47 4.04 ERA (Pitching in a hitting venue).
    Lester: 76-34  3.54 ERA  ''  ''  ''  ''  ''  ''  ''  ''  ''  ''  ''  ''

When both tank as they have, you have to look at reasons why.
Neither is a "choke" to the degree of an 8+ ERA.
The reasons for poor performance aren't reflective in total body of work.
    The answers lie elsewhere.

Nice edit job Andrew, problem is your post was copied.  Why would you go back and change the original knowing it was already copied?

Originally: His ERA in 2008 and 2009 PS starts is FIVE

    FIVE

    Now:

His ERA in 2008 (ALCS) and 2009 (ALDS) PS starts is FIVE

    FIVE

You have good company of never admitting you are wrong in Softy.

    2007 to now Lester:

    ERA  16th

    K/9   7th

    WAR  11th

    FIP  13th

How many Aces are there if he doesn't fit the criteria?

Nope, in Johnny-Choke's last 2 post season SERIES his era is 4.82 but I am sure you'll find a way to claim that I am making up the facts.

PS - so nice of you to include stats from 2007

    1)  that's a long time ago

    2)  averages do not show consistency

    3)  he has lost life on his fast ball over the past year or 2

but the good news is I will give you an A for effort and an A+ for the blind love you show your Johnny-Chokes...

[QUOTE]1 more win in April One less Wakefield start One less LOB who knows, we may not be in this boat I think the season can be summed up best by Johnny-Chokes:  "I don't care about games in April" - and there you have the season folks.  It was over at the same exact time it started.

The thing with Lester is, he's a GOOD pitcher, but not a GREAT pitcher; I put Sabathia in the same category, albeit perhaps a smidge better. These guys are NOT Gibson, Koufax, Seaver, Maddux, Pedro, etc Maybe Verlander's next.
