Trade for Kemp or Upton or solid young RH OF'er, and 2012 is set with Crawford, Kalish, Kemp or Upton or other solid young RH OF'er, and Reddick.

Jacoby goes in a trade for a solid young RH OF'er.

Reddick is a solid OF defender with a decent arm, good speed, and gap power and low high teens career average homer power.

Jacoby's been playing better and better and you keep rootin' for him to get traded, and you're pulling for Reddick, someone batting .248 in the minors over him. Go dog someone else.

Yeah how can they keep playing drew???  He is one of the least productive OFs in baseball.  Its time to sit the bad players when good young players can start and develop instead.  Lackey and drew should not play unless aceves and reddick start struggling mightily.  A struggling reddick is still more productive then drew.  What's the point of playing this guy?

Re: JOSH REDDICK, "HOW YA GOING TO KEEP HIM DOWN ON THE FARM"?????

Reddick is the rightfielder, this year and next year, if he can keep anything like this up.   Put Drew on the DL or give him away because right now, with Crawford hitting like he can, the Sox suddenly have an offensive outfield, and Drew doesn't fit in there.  Ellsbury absolutely does fit.  He has 3 more rbi's than Ortiz--yes, Ortiz--and is tied with Gonzalez for 5th in the AL in runs scored.  Them's better numbers than Ichiro, this year, anyway.

Next year it's CC, Jake, and Reddick in the outfield, with maybe Kalish as the backup, but Kalish just might be the odd man out because he too bats lefty.

Keep five outfielders and have two ready to come up from AAA. Determine what final pieces are needed at the trading deadline and then think about who is tradeable. How many of you were following Pawsox boxscores last week?

Low high teens? is that kind of like a short tall guy? Why would a team trade a young Ofer for young ofer. This is kind of like any trade for Gonzalez has to include Ellsbury...

Holy crap!  A .871 OBP!  Tongue out

But yes, despite his .248 avg, Reddick was getting on base and slugging at a good clip in AAA.  With Kalish out with his shoulder injury, this is Reddick's chance to claim the RF job.  So long as Drew stays on the bench at least short term (1-2 weeks).

For the record, I am still a fan of Drew's on-base skills, but he should be dropped down to the 8 spot when he eventually returns, with Crawford staying at 6.

Re: JOSH REDDICK, "HOW YA GOING TO KEEP HIM DOWN ON THE FARM"?????

Reddick is preferable to Drew, who is looking more and more like a shot ballplayer. Problem is , Drew and Cameron are virtually untradeable unless you are willing to eat most , if not all , of their salary.  As for a right hand hitting outfielder; keep an eye on Bryce Brentz. He is still in A-ball but showing a world of potential. Don't think he will be ready by 2012 but it could happen then or very soon after.  As for trading Ellsbury; you have got to be kidding.

Drew will have a hot streak, he always does, and he's a fine right fielder; plus, in playoff games, he's proven himself to be clutch; he's a solid vet you want around come playoff time.  Not sold on Reddick, but like Kalish.

despite the low avg Reddick is doing something this year in Pawtucket that no one thought he was capable of......walking.  He's showing patience at the plate and taking his free passes, while keeping his power numbers up.  There is much to be optimistic about this kid still.

i can see the Sox trading Scutaro. but unless they eat a major portion of Drew's contract - he will finsih the year in  a Sox uniform. if Reddick performs he replaces McDonald. they would have to eat part of Cameron's contract to dump him.

Re: JOSH REDDICK, "HOW YA GOING TO KEEP HIM DOWN ON THE FARM"?????

I think if reddick continues to play well in drews absence then he should be starter even when drew gets back. JD has been painful to watch at the plate this year and has provided little to no offense while playing slightly above average defense. The same way lowrie took over for scutaro, reddick should get the same chance if he keeps playing well. He has more power than drew, has a better arm, and more range. Reddick should be given as much playing time as possible. There is no point in starting cameron as he clearly does not have much left in the tank especially at the plate and he always looks iffy in right field. If reddick is still playing well by the time drew gets back I think the sox should make both drew and cameron availble and move whichever of them brings in the best return. I would probably keep jd out of the 2 but do not really care. Neither are hitting but at least drew is still good defensively. Cameron on the other hand is hitting worse than some of the pitchers in the NL and is average defensively. I know people think cameron is valuable due to the fact that he is a right hander that has hit lefties well in the past but as of right now he cant hit lefties or righties so i could care less about him being right handed. I mean i guess we could technically keep both of them and send down darnel but that would be one expensive bench with scutaro on it as well.
