On paper, you are right. But, Check their pitching stats -- they're good. In fact, they had a logjam in their rotation, and had to send Nova down, who's on a roll, to accommodate the return of Hughes.

Castoffs like Colon & Garcia have overachieved for them. I never count the Yanks out, they will be there with the Sox in the end. Why would we think any different? That's why they play the games.

Get real.  The Sox just left an interleague road trip that completely disturbed their line-up at a time when it was just 'catching it's stride'.

Come back here in two weeks and see how things look.

The Yankees have had a home-heavy first half in cheap home run stadium, while the Red Sox have had a road-heavy first half.  In the second half, it will be the opposite, and the Red Sox will have a majority of their games at Fenway and the Yankees will be on the road more.  That 1 1/2 game lead will not last.

That's great....aside from the fact that the Yanks have a better road record (22-14) than the red flops record (22-16) in their cheap doubles park.

You very well may be right; there's ebb and flow to the season. Doesn't matter in the long run, really, since both teams appear headed for the PS IMO.

It was silly to think the Sox were going to cruise to, and past, 100 wins, and equally silly to think the Yanks were going to struggle to 90. 4 games one way or the other, that's how it's been for about 10 years now, that's how it will continue to be.

If the Yanks had gone just 5-4 in this rivalry, your team would have a 5.5 game lead. And that is a huge difference.  Add in the fact that the Sox began the season with one of their worst starts ever, and the Yanks should really be close to a double digit lead in this race.  See how that works?  You can blow it off if you want, and write that it doesn't yet matter, but in this sport the end depends upon the beginning.

The Yankees have played 8 more home games than the Red Sox. That, among other things, has led to a 1.5 game lead. The Red Sox will end up in first place again soon. Patience RSN, patience.

The goal here is to make the playoffs, if the Sox finish first that is just a bonus, and have the pitching staff set up for the post season. The Sox were the wild card team in '04 and that championship is all the sweeter because of the absolute silence in Yankee stadium in game seven. I still believe the Sox will overtake Jeter and company and finish first, and go on to win the series.

Here's a thought ... some of you Sox fans post more about the Yankees than the Yankee fans do.

News flash, we just made up ground.  We have had a rash of injuries, and are only 2 in the loss column behind.  This is with Lackey, Buch, Dice K all being MIA and/or playing poorly, Crawford out until after the All-Star break, Lowrie out until forever, Drew having a horrible season, Cameron DFA, and the whole club getting the flu at various times over the last few months.  PD and Youk still aren't back all the way from last years injuries.

Ask yourself how the Sox are still in the hunt.

Colon and Garcia have over-achieved...but it won't last. The MLB season is a marathon, not a sprint. Each team will have their share of injuries, and peaks and valleys. The Yankees are on a high right now. But, perhaps that deflating extra-innings loss to the Mets yesterday will cool them off.

Saw the Sox play in Houston this weekend. When they're healthy, they currently have the better team. In order for the Yankees to beat out the Sox, and seriously challenge for a championship, they'll need to add a quality starting pitcher. The Sox need to add a rightfielder...preferably one with some pop from the right-side of the plate...and a lefty reliever.
