the yanks are certainly on a roll, I think we need to continue to fight for first, but certainly keep an eye on the wild card. The Yanks are good, they always are. We seem to always be playing catch up around this time of year.

It matters because the Yankees have shown they can't do anything versus the Red Sox this season, and have been repeatedly manhandled by them.  I thought that would be pretty evident.

You mean like how the first 8 games in '09 between the teams was a precursor to the next 10 between the two?

The Sox secret weapon is about to be deployed again...Jeter back at ss and leading off is the greatest advantage the Sox have. BTW Mariano coughed up another lead, could he be showing his age too.

No, what it shows is that the 1st 8 games have no bearing on the remaining games to be played.....pretty simple.

What happened 2 years ago has no bearing on what has happened this season.  And so far this season, the Yankees have shown they are no match to the Red Sox.   It's up to them to change that, but they haven't yet.  They haven't shown anything, and until they do, we can expect them to continue to fail.  It's that simple.

Red Flops - That's soooooo insulting. Did you get that one from a 5-year-old, or did you think up that one all by yourself?

Just like in '04, all the teams that won holding 3-0 series leads, didn't help the Yanks that year, that will always go down as the biggest choke job in MLB history.

So with that theory, games played in 2008 have no bearing on games yet to be played in 2011. It goes both ways, or is that logic lost on you, or am I being to obtuse for you.

Color  it any way you want, doesn't negate the fact that Derek Jeter and company are the only team in the HISTORY of MLB to lose a 3-0 lead. One out away with the great Mariano on the mound, that is the definition of choking. BTW the better team did win, and the Yanks did throw up all over themselves,it's possible for both statements to be true, they are not mutually exclusive.

[QUOTE]The Yankees have had a home-heavy first half in cheap home run stadium, while the Red Sox have had a road-heavy first half.  In the second half, it will be the opposite, and the Red Sox will have a majority of their games at Fenway and the Yankees will be on the road more.  That 1 1/2 game lead will not last.

The win percentage for the Yankee home/away records are nearly identical.  In fact it's slight better away.

The Yankees started the season with a better pen then the RS an it's stayed better in not improved despite injuries to Soriano and Chamberlain. The RS pen has gotten worse since the beginning of the season.  If Papelbon wasn't having a great year, (in his walk year, .. go figure), the RS would be 6 games back right now and fading.  The RS started the season with a better rotation, on paper at least, then the Yankees.  The the Yankees have not only received better than expected results from Nova and Garcia, they've been able to weather the loss of Hughes thanks to Colon.  Beckets having a great year, Lester is dioing OK, .. but the rest not so much.

If their away record maintains you are correct, the 1.5 game lead will not hold.  It'll be about 5 or 6 games by the end of the season.

Sox have a better record on the road than much at Fenway....actually after the end of today they will be 22-17 at home.......you should want them on the road!

Except if Jeter was playing yesterday there aren't the error that cost the Yankees the game.    By the way, .. when was the last time the RS had a top flight SS?  Nomar in his prime in the late 90s?

Keep predicting Rivera's demise, .. sooner or later you'll be right.  The Nation has been predicting the end of Rivera's career for what 5 years now?  How's it working so far?

The Yanks without Jeter are 14-4 I believe. The lead off position has taken off in his absence with Gardner and Swisher. If Derek is all about team and winning championships he should go to Girardi and ask to be dropped down in line-up...fat chance that will happen...Derek has mastered the 6-3 grounder and you only have to use your eyes, not the rose colored glasses you wear, to see his always limited range has only gotten smaller.

    3 letters tcb.
the yanks have taken care of business except against us. we have not taken care of our business. if we had, we'd be up on them. if it were not for us being lucky enough to play them 9 times we'd be 8 1/2 out of first.

we cant afford to be cocky just cause we have owned the yanks this far.
we need to win against teams we are supposed to beat, no tjust get up for games where we play the contenders. that's a manger issue, just like players not being able to compete at the start of the season.
