The biggest myth accordingly to some bar fly that I met in Florida last year is that there ever was a real rivalry between the Yankees and the Red Sox. He convinced me after telling me how few WS trophies, pennants, and Division Championships that my team has won historically. That dude had a bald head and a parrot on his shoulder but he knew his baseball. I have no idea why he was wearing pinstripes in a Red Sox bar however.

that was pike doing his parody routine. can we get an applause for this clever individual?

Actually, that might have been the funniest thing Pike has ever written.  It might just be the only funny thing that Pike has ever written here as well.  Give a man his due when he hits a tape measure job, even one as annoying as the Pikester.  Maybe he's on the right medications today.

LOL. And he spends his entire life on Sox boards when he isn't in Sox bars. Even continuing his one-liner insults under a new name "Triumph the spring break hunter".

He always struck me as irascible, but in a good way. This quote shows he's more honest than most (see Damon), regardless of who his new team is. How could he forget those memories? Despite those roots, and the fact that it appears he's not the player he used to be, he had no problem killing his ex team last yr.

Nobody was saying he needs to forget those memories.

It was just a poor choice of words on his part.

But I don't expect you to understand, being a sawx fan and all.

    That must be it.

LOL, hey pikesaysthis, have you met "selenium"?

LOL!! Must have made you crazy with all the responses to your dog. Couldn't wait to chime in. You must have forgotten that you perfected the dash after your name, the 24 hr. posting routine, the hundreds of posts in just weeks -- all one liner insults no matter how long the post you were responding to. Unreal it wasn't obvious to anyone else.

Don't you need to get some sleep to get up tomorrow and continue your obsession with a team you say isn't even your rival? LMAO

I'm just wondering when you're going to have a parrot screenname. You know, like Polly with a dash or more after it.

    No problem with his comments.

He grew up in the RS organization where he won 2 WS rings would not surprise me to see him return to Boston at some point.

Just hope he plays well for us this season.

How does anything he said in the interview, equate to being a part of a clubhouse cancer or not a great guy, clubhouse or ortherwise. First day in pinstripes, why not give him a chance?

    Exactly my point.

First day in Pinstripes and it sounds like he's pining for his days as a beantowne player.

    [/QUOTE]

IDK about pining, Babe, as much as gratitude and fond memories of days gone by. My reference to his first day in pinstripes, was more toward before moving forward in the Yankee organization, he was putting his days in Boston in context, for the fans, as much as himself. Regardless, if you give him a chance, you may have a change of heart. The things fans dispise about players on other teams, have a way of diminishing, once they're wearing the uniform you root for.

I was glad he was traded but yes, he will always be a red sox.  The home grown guys who came thru McCoy and spent that much time with the club, will always be a Red Sox.

    Re: Kevin Youkilis:

Yankees razz Youkilis for Red Sox remarks
    AP /  February 15, 2013

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Teammates of Kevin Youkilis were waiting to razz him when the third baseman walked into the New York Yankees clubhouse on Friday.

Youkilis made the back page of two New York newspapers for telling reporters at his first day of spring training that ‘‘I'll always be a Red Sox.’’

‘‘I was basically defining that, as a player, I'll be a Red Sox, and a White Sox, and a Yankee for life,’’ Youkilis said Friday. ‘‘Three storied franchises. I'm excited to be part of this, and be with the Yankees.

‘‘Trust me, there’s no way that was meant to say my heart is in Boston or anything like that. My heart is here with the Yankees.’’

After spending 8 1/2 years in Boston and winning a pair of World Series titles, Youkilis was traded from the Red Sox to the Chicago White Sox last June. He signed with the Yankees in December.

Youkilis admitted the comment ‘‘by itself looks terrible.’’

‘‘I've got to watch what I say,’’ Youkilis said. ‘‘It hit me hard.’’

Youkilis took part in his first workout with the Yankees on Thursday after flying from California to Tampa.

‘‘I think guys are having fun with it, joking around,’’ Youkilis said.

A three-time All-Star, Youkilis figures to be the Yankees’ starting third baseman for at least the first half of the season while Alex Rodriguez recovers from hip surgery. Youkilis agreed to a $12 million, one-year contract.

Youkilis also made headlines during the offseason with Yankees’ pitcher Joba Chamberlain. The two had feuded in the past over high-and-tight fastballs.

After Youkilis agreed to join the Yankees, the reliever left him a voice mail. Chamberlain said in January he had not heard back, then revealed this month he had received a text.

The pair got together Friday before workouts for New York’s pitchers and catchers. Both feel the matter got blown out of proportion.

‘‘Everything’s good,’’ Youkilis said. ‘‘We are all teammates here.’’

    Chamberlain downplayed the feud.

‘‘He just came over and said hello, and I welcomed him,’’ Chamberlain said. ‘‘Like I told you all before, it’s done now. I hope we don’t have to talk about this anymore. It’s over with. We don’t live in the past. We live in the present.’’

New York will host the Red Sox in the regular-season opener at Yankee Stadium on April 1.

‘‘I'm excited to play against them opening day,’’ Youkilis said. ‘‘I'm excited to put on the pinstripes, the full pinstripes.’’

Notes: New York’s position players are scheduled to report Sunday. ... RHP Michael Pineda (shoulder surgery) threw 25 pitches in his second bullpen session. He is expected to be out until at least June.end of story marker
