    Re: Lackey vs. the A’s

In Response to Re: Lackey vs. the A’s:
The Red Sox on Tuesday face 23-year-old Oakland lefthander Brett Anderson, who is 3-1 with a 2.61 ERA in five lifetime starts against the Sox. In 31 career innings, Anderson has held the Sox to a .205 batting average with 28 strikeouts. For Wednesday's game in Oakland, the Red Sox have slotted righthander Clay Buchholz, who posted an ERA of 18.00 in two starts at Oakland last season. The Athletics hit .423 against Buchholz, who surrendered 10 earned runs in a combined five innings. Of course, neither of these samples is as large as the sample for John Lackey against the A's.

Should anyone be concerned about the anticipated Wednesday afternoon start by Clay Buchholz, who is 0-2 with a 7.20 ERA and .325 BAA in two daytime starts this year?

For his career, Buchholz has a 4.83 ERA in 21 daytime appearances and a 3.40 ERA in 46 evening appearances.

    Re: Lackey vs. the A’s

I think Lackey will do well tonight..Clay hasnt done too well in day games, but hopefully the bats stay hot to make sure the Sox stay on the winning side..The A's pitchers are pretty hard to handle right now so the offense will have their work cut out for themselves. Smart move by Tito moving Lackey back to face the A's to put him in a good situation to get a win.
