Lester showing good signs at the perfect time.

    Lester's last 5 starts: 33IP, 2.45 ERA, allowed just 1 HR, 3.00 KB:BB,

perfect timing to turn things around.

absolutely! I stayed up and watched the game. (zzzz) he told jenny that it really helped him that the giants never really faced him before. he said he was able to use his cutter more and getting an early lead pumped him up. tell ya, the guy is quite a tall fellah standing next to little (adorable) jenny dell. imho I think she's doing a great job. she asks great questions. let's hope that Jake P can kick some more giant tail tonight. I gotta go get another coffee. lol.

It was a late night on the East Coast, Hammah, with more to follow.  Ya gotta be tough!

Ask PG what Lester's "in game ERA" was last night. Wink

Thx!  I hadn't notcied that. Respite is in sight!

I DO think it's asking a lot of the fans to finish up a game at after midnight on Wednesday morning and be ready to go again mid-afternoon that day.  Smile

3.12 ERA since the beginning of July (9 starts).

We need this from him...hope it continues. If Buchholz can make it back, Lackey can keep doing what he's been doing all season, and Peavy and Doubront can provide some stability, our rotation should be in pretty good shape approaching October.

yeah 5 I know. I live in the boston area. don't mean nuthin bro. I was still bouncing onto 128 N at 5:50 this morning to beat the rush. I'm planning on a little 40 bike ride after work and a quick nap so I can be fresh for Mr. Peavy and company to continue the positive start to this series.

    GO SOX!

In a addition to a 3.12 ERA since the beginning of July, his earlier relaspe is looking like more and more of the outlier this year and his good start might be the real Lester.

    Lester's ERA month by month:

    April: 3.11

    May: 3.92

    June: 7.62

    July: 3.13

    August: 3.12

But according to PG, Lester is just a No. 5 starter at best.

    Good post roy
This is why I have always said to not give up on Lester. Hes too good and too smart of a pitcher. PG quits and gives up too easy on everything baseball. Its no surprise he gave up on Lester. Baseball is a game you HAVE to have a certain amount of patience with. There was no way I believed Lester just fell off a cliff and is now only as good as Dempster. Im not saying hes an "Ace", but Ive maintained that he can still be a front line starter. Great game last night.

Lester has had his struggles, but you still think of him as a very good pitcher. You expect him to do well. I am sure if you asked around baseball , other teams rate him higher than some here do.

    Stabbed by Foulke.

I always ignored or didn't take much into account when I would see these Lester threads. I'll admit it, I thought or wished he would be the guy to outpitch a Price or Tampa guy back in 08, but he did a great job in 07, and I would never have a problem starting him in a playoff game. He's got great stuff and he's dominating at times.

Fans. Most of the writers -- Globe included -- kept saying that Lester had good stuff and should be better than he was. I don't recall any of them saying he should be gone. In fact, they say the option should be picked up.

It's some of the "fans" who have been saying dump him.
