LESTER straight up for HAMELS makes no sense.. y not for a big outfield BAT?

sox should explore a 3-way! we need a bat, left or right field.. comfortable with victorino being a 4th OF for the rest of the year if he returns.. jbj is a everyday guy as is holt (could alternate at third). move boegy to ss on a regular basis. send betts down, look for better pastures for gomey, and/or carp or nava. but i do get sox interest though.. lest has one year left, phillies just one the A-list draft pick and want cap relief from hamels.. sox like the fact that hamels will have short money going forward (4 years left for 90m after this one when he'll be only  age 34). these are the perimeters the sox like. if lest would take 4 years 100m, there could b a deal. also, hamels has sox on his list of teams he wants to b traded to along with yanks, cards, padres and others.

btw, hams and lest numbers are remarkably similar even this year. both are innings eaters.. hams has pitched at least 200 innings in 6 out of last 7 years and is on pace to do the same this year with under 3 era and low WHIP. better deal could b trade lester to LA, get kemp, get hams from philly.. then sox and dodgers give mid to level prospects to philly. as side note, apelpn will b moving as well.. seattle? mets?

If you lose Lester you don't just need a bat anymore, you need a big time pitcher too.

Re: LESTER straight up for HAMELS makes no sense.. y not for a big outfield BAT?

it does make sense.   Sox will not lose prospects if they try trading for Hamels.  Good news is that Hammels already have four more years left in his contract and he ll be only 34 years old when his contract run out.  Hammels's contract is only 22 millions dollars a year.  For Lester, he is 31 years old, and who kow he rather to get 6 to 7 years contract.  He ll be 36 to 38 years old when he is in his final year contract.  And also who know that Lester want like 25 millions a year.   That is a huge difference between these two.

Another thing is that if Lester walks, Sox will get draft pick.

It is a huge gain for Boston!!

But know what, Phillies isnt going to take Lester in return if Lester is in his last year contract.  Phillies will be so stupid if they make this deal!!
