Lin for now, maybe Repko if/when Ells ends up on the 60 day DL (thus freeing up room on the 40 man for Repko).

In Response to Lin scratched from Pawtucket lineup -Will he be called up?:
By Peter Abraham, Globe Staff Che-Hsuan Lin was scratched from the Pawtucket lineup a few minutes ago, which is likely a sign he will be the player called up by the Red Sox for Saturday's game against the Rays. Lin, 23, is an elite defensive player with speed and a strong arm. But he hit a modest .245/.340/.305 for Portland and Pawtucket last season with two home runs and 36 RBIs in 59 plate appearances.

Prior to last seasons AAA stint, Lin has not posted an OPS below .700 in any level of MiLB.  His SB/CS totals from the past 3 years are 26/11, 26/12, 28/7 suggesting that he may be improving as a base runner.

Curious to see if he'll be start starting CF, or 4th OF / pinch runner / defensive replacement.

Johnny Damon? Vlad? Do we have another decent centerfielder in the Minors that can hit?

Neither of those players are CF's and Damon is an Indian.  Lin's bat was servicable until his AAA adjustment last year.  Stellar defender who should make you forget about Ells in the field.  Cannon for an arm.

    Posted by JB-3
I really like him defensively and he has pretty good wheels. Hopefully he can make the adjustment to ML pitching. Ells could be out for a while.

Looking at their minor MiLB numbers, Lin looks like Ellsbury-lite with better defense.

Ells had similar SB's (until his 2007 season) and an OPS about 100 points higher in his MiLB career.

It should at least be fun to watch Lin play in MLB, I always wondered if he would get a shot in Boston.
