No WS titles since Manny left, thats a fact. The sox are still lacking a bat to make up for his numbers to this day.

Go for it.  Can't be any worse than Mike Crapoli!

Sign him now, just in time for the Yankee series

That's more distasteful than the Yankees having A-rod back on the field.

The Yankees didn't have much of a choice. The Sox do.

I don't know how many times I've thought Manny's career was over since about 2010...he keeps popping up somewhere else.

    In response to dannycater's comment:

wow, and all those clutch home runs, clutch RBI doubles, 9th-inn hits to save the team, the 2 WS titles, the 03 ALCS coming within inches of a 3rd WS, and all those hundreds, hundreds of at bats he took that he didn't leave his bat on his shoulder, that was offset by this isolated at bat that. We forget that Manny's numbers at the time of his trade showed him hovering at .300 with a better than average home run, RBI totals. So if he was "throwing" or trying to get out of Boston, he did so rather innocuously on the field. In the dugout, clubhouse, it's clear he was a cancer near the end, according to Tito. But 67, you are a naive guy to use this one moment to define him in Boston. He was and still is the greatest right-handed batter I've ever seen in person at a game--and I've seen most of the great ones.

He was great because of PEDS, not so great after PEDS.  Remember when the sox put him on wavers and no one would take him.  With those great numbers why would the sox do that.  Because he didn't want to play for the sox and the sox didn't want him.

    In response to 67redsox's comment:

Manny didn't want to be in boston, he made that clear. I was at the game when the sox played the yanks.  We needed some runs.  Manny stood at the plate but didn't take the bat of his shoulder and struck out.  He got paid megabucks but he didn't care.  He didn't care that he let down his teammates and the fans.

Let's not forget about manny pushing down that sox guy in his 60's because he couldn't get tickets.

Manny was all about manny and I was glad to see him go. His career was over a long time ago.

True, but if we are waiting for a bat to make up for Manny Ramirez, I think we will be waiting a long time. Baseball-reference shows his 162-game avg season as .312/.411/.585 with 39 HR and 129 RBI. Most hitters, even those considered the league's elite at any given time, will never approach that in their career years...and that was Manny's average. PEDs or no PEDs he was one of the best ever, and I doubt we'll see his like any time soon, any more than I expect to see another Pedro.

That's not to minimize any of his failings...I'd just prefer to remember the good times first, and there were many. Try two titles that would not have happened without him.

LOL! Some sox fans have a blind spot when it comes to manny.  The guy was good because of peds.  He played when he wanted and had a sore knee, elbow, throat,            (fill in the blank) when he didn't.

Even with his great numbers the sox put him on wavers and even with his great numbers no one picked him up.  I got sick and tired of hearing about manny being manny.

The guy did well in japan, if he still wants to play he should head back there.

Funny, Nomar quit on the team in '04 and that isn't discussed much.

    what's 2 discuss

    he quit was traded

and the rest is history ;-(

    LOL, I love the history!!!

Let's not forget the whole peds thing. Nomar clean, manny not.

Not sure that I agree.  It was never proven but many of us suspected Nomar of using PED's.  Just because many MLB players were never found quilty of using doesn't mean that they didn't.  I always liked Nomar but still believed that he may have been using something to enhance his performance like so many other MLB players.

you do realize that just about every player is put on waivers?

    ever see Nomar's SI cover?

don't lie...you know you cheered when Manny's duckboat rolled by you with him holding the "jeter is playing golf, this is better" sign.  and if you weren't at the parade in 2004 you better have been in the hospital.

I met Manny twice at the Gold Gym at Plaza International in Santiago, Dominican Republic.  He hangs out in Santiago during the winter months.

He also hangs out at a strip club called "Casa Blanca".    LOL

Re: Look like Manny Ramirez's career is all over

To the end, Manny had no sense of shame. Why did he even bother trying to come back? He epitomizes the worst aspect of athletes that has always been fed by blind, worshipping fans. Like Babe Ruth before him, fans don't care about personal behavior as long as you hit home runs. In the end, Manny trashed himself with his own childish, selfish behavior. Championships don't redeem him at all.
