Reagan by far.  This country was to the left of Italy and Greece.  The reason why Ted Kennedy ran was because Carter was considered too far to the right.  That's what the democratic party was comprised of.  Once Reagan utterly destroyed the remnants of the far left in 1984, the democrats moved far to the center.

That's right because only side is crazy.  What's going to happen if Romney wins? You think the progressives are go ing to go away? No! Just like the conservatives won't go away if Obama wins.

    [/QUOTE]

Don't think it'll make any difference.  I don't like either guy, and will vote for Ron Paul, but I think the folks on the left think Obama is helping them.  Is anyone on the left better off?  Are the poor better off?  We went into the hole for about $5-6T in four years.  For a family of four, that's about $80,000 per a family of four in additional debt.  Anyone here feel $80,000 better off?

When we run out of money, it's going to be the poor that will suffer.  They don't seem to realize it.

"We went into the hole".....a long time ago.  At some point we Yanks collectively, and most  Yank individuals personally, decided to live on their, their childrens' and future generations' well-being rather than grinding out a life without borrowing.

The (temporary) saving grace is China's co-dependence on the US's desperation to borrow i.e. if/when China stops taking IOUs from us their dollar pile will devalue but at that point they will invest in a better long-term bet.

And before someone blames this guy, the last guy, or all the guys that have been in charge for the last five decades, this is not a recent development...nor unique to the US.  People want cheap food (at the expense of farmers), cheap toys (at the expense of Asian factory workers), ad nauseum.  Dog forbid you pay a living wage to farmers or shirt weavers if it means you have to take a local holiday rather than jet abroad......

Democrats moved to the center huh?

    That's absolutely hilarious.

The Democrats are so far to the left that the Republicans of today look more like the democrats when JFK was president.

This to me is the 2nd term of Jimmy Carter except the first two years had a leftist in control of both the house and the senate.

What has happened in this country these past 4 years is no surprise to anyone who follows politics closely.

It was Reagan that made that possible.  Clinton was bright enough to co-opt ideas that he knew were popular with a solid majority.  I still remember the left fighting the idea, screaming that people would riot, and that we'd have starvation in the streets.

Somehow it never dawned on them that the overwhelming majority of people in this country  know exactly what they need to do to survive.

Can we just stick with a few facts???

    1) Softy is a moron!

    2)  Bush spent like a drunken Democrat, & got us into two wars that were destined to end badly!

    3)  Many of us were hopeful that Obama might lead as he campaigned.  Even many like me who are decidedly Right of Center.

    4)  It is clear to anyone willing to SEE CLEARLY, without blind partisanship, that THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES!

    5)  DEBT INCURSION HAS SKYROCKETED, MUCH FASTER UNDER OBAMA THAN EVEN W/ BUSH.

    6)  OUR FOREIGN POLICY IS IN RUINS!  & OUR PRESIDENT STILL NAIVELY CLINGS TO THE IMMATURE NOTION THAT HE CAN RESHAPE THE WORLD THROUGH THE POWER OF HIS PERSONAL CHARISMA.

    7)  WE CAN'T GET SO MUCH AS A BUDGET OUT OF THIS ADMINISTRATION!

    8)  OUR ENERGY POLICY IS A THREAT TO NATIONAL SECURITY, & THIS PRESIDENT IS BLINDLY WED TO A JUVENILE IDEOLOGY ON THAT SCORE.

    9)  THE PRESIDENT FAILS TO SEE THAT TIGHTENING BUSINESS REGULATIONS IN THE MIDST OF THE GREATEST RECESSION IN THE LAST 70+ YEARS WILL NOT NEGATIVELY IMPACT OUR ECONOMY ON THE BRINK.

    10)  THIS PRESIDENT HAS MANIFESTLY FAILED TO SPUR BUSINESS & HELP CREATE THE ENVIRONMENT FOR JOB GROWTH!

    11)  REAL UNEMPL0YMENT CONTINUES TO ESCALATE, AS 100'S OF THOUSANDS DROP OUT OF EVEN LOOKING FOR A JOB EACH MONTH.

    12)  WHEN "DROP-OUTS" ARE SUBTRACTED FROM THE SUPPOSED 'JOB GROWTH,' WE ARE HEMORRHAGING JOBS!

    13)  WHILE THE PRESIDENT'S PERSONAL POPULARITY REMAINS RELATIVELY HIGH, THOSE OF US TO THE RIGHT OF CENTER, WHO WERE WILLING TO GIVE HIM A SHOT, NOW REALIZE WITHOUT A DOUBT, THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES!

    14)  THOSE WHO STILL ENTHUSIASTICLY SUPPORT THIS PRESIDENT, AND HIS POLICIES, ARE WITHOUT A DOUBT BLINDLY PARTISAN IDEOLOGUES!

    :) JUST SAYING.....

Clinton passed welfare reform after deep sixing it twice, Gingrich and the contract with America dragged Clinton there the third time when he actually passed it.

That's when the democrats and republicans worked together for the good of the country.

I do not think that Romney is the 2nd coming of Ronald Reagan but, at least, he is not a quasi Communist/Socialist. Personally, I fear being a betting man on many sports events is that Obama is going to win. For whom do you think the 47 million on welfare food stamps are going to vote for ???  Obama's policies tend to offer employment to people in the Government sector and we are heading with all the deficit spending to finance this and other welfare programs down the same financial disaster path as Europe.  Romney & Ryan, at least, I believe have more business experience and they are better suited toward creating job opportunities in the Private sector aka reducing unemployment. With businesses prospering, tax revenues on profits will increase & more income will be derived from taxing the workers' incomes. Continuing to run the printing presses to finance our deficit will only lead to a weaker dollar & inflation which will most definitely hurt a retired old guy like me !!!

I love New England having spent my 1st 21 years in Maine & return every year.  But was sent to Camp Pendleton before Viet Nam & love the beaches all way from LA to San Diego and the fact that one can go in the water 9 months per year & even in 3 months in Maine it's "Blue Ball" water. and your heart goes up to your throat.  Hate LA & Lakers. And am still a Boston fan 1st but lucky to be a local fan too with the A's, Giants & 49ers.Heck, SF is the west coast BAY AREA !!!

Now 9:10 PCT...Was at a Sports Bar watching Sox up 2-1 & then 3-1 going to last of 9th vs Yanks. Damn Nunez getting pinch hit HR to tie. Bailey sucks...monday morning QB I know but I'd rather have had Reddick's 30+ HRs. In OT it was only a matter of time for Yanks to score---I think they were 16hits to our 8. Ok ...got to root for A's.

Thanks for referral but I go there now...Woodhouse Fish Co. on Market St. & Filmore St. But it always taste better at the Union Oyster House or1000 other places in New England.

I suspect you and the Leftists will be running against Bush for a thousand years.

While Bush didn't lie and promise to cut the deficit in half, he also didn't create the FDR American Deadbeat programs that have ruined the Nation and are responsible for the deficit and the debt. The Constitution wasn't established to make the federal government a social engineering teet. Most American people don't produce, they simply consume. The States can easily take care of the truly disabled and people who are starving and suffering from exposure.

The Democrat Party is the party of segragation and the party of entitlements. Once again, they are down on their knees between the legs of every voter who wants something for nothing.

Obama makes Bush look like the wisest and most fiscally responsible politician in history.

Despite the media propaganda to make this another election on race and those with a giant economic class envy chip on their shoulders, this election is about the economy and the four year deficit and debt record and uemployment record of the four year administration of Osama Obama.

OK got to enjoy my day as best I can so happy the As won & I want them to knock off the Yankees in Div playoffs, and if not, SF Giants to win world series vs. Yankees but the REAL HOME RUN YESTERDAY WAS DONE BY ROMNEY !!! I did say in a previous post that polls showed Mitt losing but a strong showing in the debates can pick up the undecided voters but definitely not the 47 million on food stamps.  He looked like a confident knowledgeable patriot ala Reagan to not take guff from any international country bad mouthing us but not above intelligent diplomacy but if someone like Iran president or any other Muslim terrorist threatens us, they are not worth a logical debate as they only understand a show of force.

Obama sounded like an arrogant bumbling lying double talking fool that he is and got caught at it !!! He seemed like all he needed to do was show up & present himself as the Messiah like he has buffooned so many liberals the past few years. The party is God Willing over !!!
