Giancarlo Stanton is a great young player, but as a result any market for Stanton would overheat to the point that the Marlins could command a significant overpay for his services.

Never happen. If Marlins ever traded Stanton, you'd probably be able to hear crickets during the games. He's there only draw and makes little $, a perfect Marlin.

Blow the Marlins Away with an offer they cant refuse. Obviously the offer is gonna have to start with Xander but again Giancarlo is worth it. I dont know the Farm system to well so maybe you guys could help me get an idea of what an iresitable offer of sox prospects would be for Stanton.

Would an offer of Xander Bogaerts, Matt Barnes, Jackie Bradley, Garin Cecchini and Henry Owens be too much?

I suspect it would take an offer of that magnitude for the Marlins to trade Giancarlo Stanton this offseason (which is why Stanton is unlikely to be traded soon).

    I'd try an offer of...

Aceves, Morales, Lavarnway, Bradley, Brentz, Cecchini and Britton.

I'd try to keep Bogaerts, but would add Barnes instead of Cecchini and Britton if they insisted.

I'd also add Iggy if they wanted him and would pay part of Aceves' deal if need be.

Sounds like a plan! I would also try to keep Bogaerts. How about Holt or Ciriaco instead of Iggy?

I think that is almost exactly what it might cost. Maybe if we are in first place at the trade dead line and Victorino just broke his leg I would do it. Until then, there is no way I trade our top prospects for equal value in return for anybody.

Would you take Nolasco and his contract off their hands? Stanton had publicly bad-mouthed the direction of the team.  Plus, they would like to move Nolasco

You might be on to something here. Nolasco is due...

    $11.5M in 2013.

He could be like the next Mike Lowell.

Giancarlo Stanton was a prospect at one time, no? I thought that the forum as a whole said that minor league prospects never make it to the majors.

    [/QUOTE]

I dont think that prospects never make it to the show, But there is very high rate of failure with prospects. Hints why thier called Prospects. Stanton is a proven commodity and someone i think is worth emptying the farm for.

That's the guy worth making the farm system work for you--Stanton could be the RF'der for the next 10 years. If you traded the farm you know you could eventually rebuild it as their would be a GM that would believe he could lead you to the WS.

What would the Marlins want in opening the talks?

WMB or Boggie, Lester or Buch, Bailey, Webster, Barnes, Holt and Brentz.

I would send cash to pay Lester or Buch's salary.

That's about as far as I would go.

Our best of C, SP, IF & OF prospects I wld expect. Maybe keep a JBJ or a XB if we throw in Bard? IDK?

Haha!...Glad to see "that's about as far as you would go!"  You can't be serious?!  The Sox would never consider that package for Verlander, Kershaw, or Hernandez, never mind an outfielder.  And again, I doubt the Marlins have 7 available spots on their 40 man roster.
