Judging by his previous rehab starts, he isn't fit to replace anyone on the Pawtucket staff, let alone Boston's.

Right. Let's ship him back to Japan where he belongs. As a matter of fact, let's deport all the Latino players while we're at it. Who came up with the idea of desegregating baseball in the first place. Sheesh!

And suddenly Daisuke Matsuzaka is ready to pitch.

Anyone that can't see the racially based animus in the above sarcasm doesn't pay attention to U.S.A media hiring federal class identity diversity surveys.

Dice should replace DMac ... that guy gave up three runs in his only inning pitched.  Let's wait and see when he is MLB ready and then decide who, if anyone, he should replace.  And I still say that if Buch doesn't have a good outing his next time out they need to find a way for him to work things out without starting any more MLB games.  I would rather have Germano pitch or let two of our long relievers do a tandem start or ... hmm, DMac is coming back from the DL so he's available too which would set him up nicely to be replaced by Dice.

Hard for me to be sure what exactly his means. Is Dice-K's agent pressing his player to accelerate his rehab as much as possible so that he will hopefully have a sample set he can take to market in the fall? Or are the RS alarmed about Buch and Bard and are the ones rushing Matsuzaka?

You re right few of you guys that he isnt replacing anyone.  Maybe he can share the duty with Bucholtz such as both can just pitch 3 and half innings each, and let the bullpen finish the game for them!!!

That's a tough call. Isn't Boras his agent? If the Sox are pushing, it may not have anything to do with either Bard or Buchholtz. They could be looking to move him at the deadline.

I don't think anybody is rushing anything - Matsuzaka needed more rehab starts, but his 30 days ran out, so the Sox concocted an imaginary injury to give him some more starts at Pawtucket.

I know the Sox are gaming the system, but the man is on the active roster, and he's coming off TJ surgery - he should get as many rehab starts as he needs.

Posted by antibody[/QUOTE]He is tough to move. He has full no trade rights aside from all the factors.

Now it may well just all be procedural, but Peter Abraham certainly was inferring that it may have had to do with Bard's performance and that the RS had urgency because of it. That's what I was responding to rather than the most likely case.

It is likely that Dice K just isn't close to ready but the only way he will get there is to keep working in actual game situations. And in that regard, Dice K is pushing, the agent is pushing and that is just fine with the RS who could use the depth and are on the hook for $10M this year and then can walk away.
