    NESN:
The top half of the Red Sox lineup will look to take advantage of its matchup with Minnesota Twins right-hander Nick Blackburn when the two teams finish a four-game series on Monday night.

Jacoby Ellsbury, Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis and David Ortiz, the first four hitters in Boston's batting order who have faced Blackburn, are a combined 14-for-35 (.400) against the righty. Adrian Gonzalez, who went 3-for-5 with a home run in Sunday's win, has never faced Blackburn.

The rest of the lineup is 4-for-21 (.190) against Blackburn, who was bumped into this start when left-hander Francisco Liriano came down with an illness in the wake of his no-hitter last week.

Here is the complete Red Sox lineup in support of Josh Beckett.

    Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
    Dustin Pedroia, 2B
    Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
    Kevin Youkilis, 3B
    David Ortiz, DH
    J.D. Drew, RF
    Jed Lowrie, SS
    Carl Crawford, LF
    Jason Varitek, C

    TWINS
    Span CF
    Tolbert SS
    Kubel DH
    Morneau 1B
    Valencia 3B
    Cuddyer RF
    Revere LF
    Rivera C
    Hughes 2B

Re: May 9th Sox vs Twins game thread!

Has anyone else done the math I just did on the Sox? Here's what I mean. Since starting 2-10, the Red Sox have gone 14-8, that's a .636 w%. If they play at that rate for the rest of the season, they will win 97.45 games--we'll be conservative and say 97. As much as we've griped about the inconsistency (myself leading the charge),this "inconsistent" baseball will win the East if they can keep stumbling along in it. Someone check my math to make sure it's right! I simply projected that winning % over the remaining games (128) and added the 81 games harvested from that to the 16 they've already won. I'm just sayin'.....I was very suprised to arrive at that figure.

Lucky for us here in Michigan that they are on ESPNHD, tv is setup and dinner is almost ready, nice pork roast with baked potato, fresh squash and perl onions! Bring it on Momma and I cannot wait. One of these days comcast will offer MLB where I live.

can someone tell all the 2B in MLB to stop trying to make circus catches in the outfield....let the outfielders catch the ball moving forward...basic little league stuff that seems forgotten these days...Drew could have charged that ball and caught it if Pedroia didnt chase it into mid right field

I know Pedroia will break out of his slump eventually, but right now he isn't even giving himself a chance - up there hacking at anything and everything - it's as if he has changed his whole approach - no patience.  That needs to change in order for him to break out of it.

    AGon clutch.

As far back as I can remember, about 4th grade, that's what you are taught to do as an infielder.
