Media twisting the Arm of Truth once more......

So Carl Crawford finally was introduced as a Dodger the other day. I have to admit I was always waiting for him to finally make an appearance after the bIg trade; he has been unheard from since the day of the transaction.

The headline on WEEI says "Definitely a relief" to leave Boston. Well, that raised my blood pressure! Yet taking the time to read the article I came across this:

"Things didn't go as planned in Boston. I'm happy for a new start. I just didn't play well enough there, for whatever reason. It just didn't work. I didn't do my part..."

Well, there you go. An honest comment from an honest guy, yet the media tries to grab your (my) attention with what a relief to get the heck out of Boston bull.

Wanted to make note of it.

Re: Media twisting the Arm of Truth once more......

I have no hard feelings with Crawford.  Very honest statement from a pretty decent guy.  He's right!  It just wasn't gonna work here for him.  He simply couldn't handle the pressure, & injuries did add to that.  I personally believe that the seriousness of the injuries were somewhat a manifestation of his lack of confidence here in Boston.  I don't think he did this intentionally, but the injuries gave him a bit of breathing room.  I'm not saying the guy was faking anything, but I think things continued to linger because he was affraid to come back.  Again, not consciously,

I wish him the best, but I'm very happy we unloaded this rediculous contract.  I'm even happier that we unloaded A=Gon's & Beckett's contracts!!!!  Sad, but this mega=deal was he best thing that Ben C. may ever do for the Sox.

dirtdog I agree. I found it weird he made no comment after the trade and was only just now introduced to Dodger fans!

And....... the media tried to make him look bad by suggesting being "relieved" was Carls biggest concern to get the heck outa Dodge.

This is a thread that is critical of the media and not Crawford. Also who in the heck thinks Speir was "erronous" ???? He is trying to grab negative attention you silly TROLL

On a second note to those able to absord, is it not interesting it took months for the Dodgers or Carl to speak up?

    Try to stay well-rounded pike.

"relief" is a quote bone-brain. You stir the pot even when dinner is done. Useless fud-twat.

The thread is about the erroneous headline in the Speier column, right. Why not just leave it at that? The other 1000 Crawford threads have said it all about Crawford. This thread will awaken Andrewmitch and isn't it best to let a sleeping dog alone?

Why tell other people what they can and can't post?

"There's no secret this was a tough year in Boston. I wouldn't want any player to go through," said Crawford. "To get out of that situation is definitely sort of a relief."

Again I don't blame Crawford and I was more pointing out on how he felt bad about not performing at a high level:

"Things didn't go as planned in Boston. I'm happy for a new start. I just didn't play well enough there, for whatever reason. It just didn't work. I didn't do my part..."

    Spot on!

It is absolutely disgraceful and despicable for journalists to make things up for no other reason than to get additional 'hits'.  How can these people sleep at night?

Is Speier so lacking in talent that he is unable to write an interesting piece without resorting to slander?

Calzone!!!! Haven't seen you in a while. Pike I thought you were retiring this particular screen name due to some connection to an ethnic slur? How is Fenway Jimmy by the way? Seriously though this is what keeps you up at night? The fear that if a thread isn't worded just right Andrewmitch might come along with a sharply worded phrase? Pleeese. You're probably the only person in the history of discussion forums that counts the amount of activity in the forum as a negative.

Enchilada and the other serious contributors to this thread. A couple points: on the article, it's possible that it was the work of a careless and/or eyeball-seeking editor. It's rare in journalism for writers to decided on their own titles. Usually an editor has final say there. The point remains - tedious to stir things up, but that's sadly the state of eyeball-seeking journalism these days, it's a professional hanging onto a revenue model by a thread. Ergo, the lack of investment in this forum (lack of ignore button and so on).

And as far as Crawford is concerned, I agree, he was always an honest guy and a class act. It was not his fault he signed an albatross of a contract. Had he been signed to an affordable contract I think many of us would have lobbied to keep him here and likely he woudln't have been traded. As it is I am rooting for him, I think he has the right attitude and I think most Red Sox fans wish him well.

" Who cares if Burrito has one alias or fifty since they are all irrational, unreasonable, and ignorant."

Umm actually I care Pike. Burrito actually seems to only post on one screen name, Enchilada. As such he posts things worth reading, though I don't always agree. Anyhow that's not the point. The point is that if you post under more than one screen name, we don't want you here. Posting under different aliases decreases the caliber of trust and caliber of discussion. Please give that some hard thought and come back as one declared identity and get rid of the rest of them. I'm not going to give you an essay on why this is so, and you may find it strange to think that in anonymous forum that trust matters, but it does. Even softy sticks with the one persona he has at any one time. To post under multiple screen names is the ultimate troll act. Get it together please.

"Crawford is a disgrace, and he will stay a disgrace. "I didn't play well enough" and "it just didn't work" is a pitiful excuse."

Speaking of "getting it together." Just read your Crawford rant Trotter. Can you also now post why you opposed trading "the disgrace"? I want to better understand your psychosis, err, I mean, your position.
