Mat Latos is a very underrated pitcher. He has averaged 10-14 wins and an ERA of around 3 over the past three years, and is only 25. The Reds are in need of a leadoff hitter and center fielder. We could dangle Ellsbury and some pitching prospects to acquire him. Thoughts?

To acquire four years of Mat Latos, the Reds traded Baseball America's 33rd- and 53rd-ranked prospects (a firstbaseman and a catcher), a former first-round pick reliever whom BA ranked 10th in the Reds organization, and two years of a one-time All Star starter.A rough equivalent might be Jacoby Ellsbury, Matt Barnes, Jackie Bradley and Bryce Brentz.
It's all academic because the reigning NL Central champions are unlikely to trade away their 25-year-old ace starter.

I agree. Dont think Latos is going anywhere. maybe one of their good pitching prospects could be had though.

He's not even their ace. Cueto is. He is listed THIRD on the Reds' depth chart for SP's behind Cueto and Homer Bailey. His trade value is lower than it was when he was the ace of the lowly Padres. -

I agree with this sentiment entirely.... GO FOR IT... If you see a player you want ( PITCHER) then go and ask about them. When they tell you what they desire you can decide if you want to counter offer or just say NO THANK YOU...No harm in asking what is out there...

Maybe they already did ask.
I could see Cincinnati moving a starter, but not Latos. Leake or Arroyo are much more likely expendables....

Forget it. The Reds will never trade Matt Latos. I follow the Reds, have for years. They will not trade Latos or Cueto.
