Tis the season for ridiculous trade speculation that lands the Red Sox every elite player in MLB.  Yeah, the Tigers are going to trade the second best RH bat in baseball, who is coming off an MVP caliber season to the Red Sox for the Red Sox scraps.... You even got them tossing in Benoit!!! LOL
Posted by Thesemenarecowards
I think the Tigers will be tempted to give us Justin Verlander if we were to toss in Will Middlebrooks too! They need a third baseman too you know.

sure, and since we're trading Youk, we can sign Pujols to play 3B.

I'd like that move but unfortunatley Middlebrooks is being packaged with Scutaro in the Felix Hernandez deal.

I know what you're thinking and don't worry, once that deal is complete Franklin Morales will be traded straight up for Elvis Andrus, thus filling the void left at SS.

Hey thanks TMAC.  Goes against my quasi-socialist leanings and peasant upbringing, but I do get a little giddy at the notion of being Royalty.

Now, did you take care of lunch so that your brain isn't starved of carbohydrates and you can think clearly? Hint, consider Tim Linsecum, he'd bring his pot habit to Boston and we wouldn't have to worry about beer breath with him as a starter. How's Lars Anderson, Clay Buchholz and a box of Dunkin' Donuts in exchange sound?

Another thing, why can the Sox just sign Pujols instead having Boston losing half of these top ten farm system prospects!!

But it is too late now.  Boston had a chance to get Cebrera in the past, but decided to keep Youkilis/Agonz/Papi!!

Here's what we should do for our offseason moves.
Sign Pujols for 10 cents. I mean come on who wouldn't want to play in Boston?
Sign Prince for 8 cents. Read above ^.
Get Starlin Castro from the Cubs because Theo is the best GM ever.
Do the trade mentioned in this post.
Trade Starlin Castro for Lincecum and Matt Cain.
Sign Papelbon for 7 cents. Read Pujols signing.
Sign Ortiz for 6 cents. Read Pujols signing.
Trade Ellsbury for Strasburg, Harper, and Ryan Zimmerman.
Trade Tazawa for Dave robertson.
Trade Salty for Mauer.
Trade Iglesias for Hanley Ramiriez.
Trade Lackey for Halladay
Convince Crawford to lower his contract to 3 cents. Read Pujols signing.
our team should look something like this

Pedroia-2nd
Mauer-catcher
Cabrera-right
Pujols-3rd
Prince-DH
Kemp-Center
Gonzalez-First
Ramirez-SS
Ethier-Left

Our pitching should look like this
Halladay
Cain
Lincecum
Lester
Beckett
Buchholz
(6 man rotation)

BP
Papelbon-CL
Robertson-SU
Bard-SU
Strasburg-MR/LR
Aceves-MR/LR
Jenks-Junk innings
Albers-MR

Bench
Harper, Zimmerman, Crawford.

While the name is exciting, the difference between Gonzo/Papi and Gonzo MCab is not that much.  The difference is only 80 points of OPS.  since that represents 10% of our ABs, that improves the team OPS by about .008-.010.

And then you'd be losing Youk.  The salary for Youk/Papi ~ = to MCab.  So you have Lowrie replace Youk.  Since Youk/Papi > MCab/Lowrie, we'd be worse off than we started with.

And we'd have traded those prospects for no real improvement.

And even if MCab/Lowrie outperformed Youk/Papi, what does that do?  Make the best offense in the league slightly better?

With no prospects left with which to acquire pitching, which is our real concern?

You are correct on both points. Youk is not done yet. Detroit could get much more for Cabrerra than that deal.

Forget that he showed up hungover for a pivotal late season game a few years back. A team that has had allegations of beer-swilling in the clubhouse really, really needs another drunk on the roster....brilliant.

In "Ruthless People", Danny Devito shocked his wife's kidnappers by telling them to go ahead and kill her. Perhaps the Tigers, wanting to get out of the time-bomb that is his fat contract will do the deal too...cue up Winehouse's "Rehab" for his AB's, Sweet Caroline, see ya! (The Red Sox are "Ruth"-less people, aren't they).

Ok, this post along with the posts about paying Fielder 18mm per to be our DH have got to be the two top offseason dreams...1)Dombrowski would laugh, then hang up on Ben  2)We already have a 20mm 1b, remember Gonzo?
Also, Ive seen you bash posters on this forum without being provoked seannyboi.
Pretty lame of you to blame others...especially space..a little responsibility will go a long way in life rather than blaming others for your actions...If you cant take it, dont dish it out..
