Game over. Welcome to wild card tie city. Since our hitting presents no threat whatsoever, we're probably done. How do you NOT come out ready to play and win after last night? Again, superlatives fail.

If Beckett and Lester can't come through now, when it is so critical, how can anyone in the Nation have any positivity?

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Monday Game Thread: Sox @ Orioles : I see it differently. The lack of consistent hitting has been a bigger problem than the pitching IMO.

I disagree to a point. we have usually outhit our opponents in so many games we've lost but the problem is the lack of CLUTCH HITS !!! Are getting them a matter of skill or luck or a combo of both ???

That was the number nine hitter on a last place team. What can you say?

And by the way, that throw beat the runner to the plate by plenty. Did Salt miss the ball or what? It looked like he caught it, and then just stood up and let the guy score. Did I miss something?

    Pesky,

You remind of me of that way too positive, slightly creepy dad, who told you you played great and were "just a couple plays away" after you just lost 14-2 in little league. Calm down bro, this one's over. If I knew you personally I'd make a $100 bet the Sox lose this ball game. And the Rays are winning. Awesome.

Beckett has been struggling for awhile.  Francona cannot manage pitchers.

My congratulations to the Tampa Bay Rays whose 15-10 September record was good enough to make up the 8 game wild card deficit.  What a freaken nightmare watching this team.

Re: Monday Game Thread: Sox @ Orioles

That ANY team could come out this flat and crappy in the heat of a pennant race after winning the way they did last night is incomprehensible, and is so far beyond anything I've ever seen in my life of watching sports, I don't even know where to start.
