Theo please give him Wakefield his due at the end of the season and let him retire. I am so tired of giving this guy leads and watching him blow them. Puick upo another starter. You got as much mileage as you can out of a 44 year old pitcher
I was just about to type how much Wake's knuckler was moving when it flattened out and Hardy crushed it.  But I could swear that I saw two of those swinging strikes to Andino move in two different directions.
    Posted by joel49
Yes it was seeming that way Joel and in an instance it flattened out.

In Response to Re: Monday Night Game Thread - Sox/O's:
Yet another reason why we need to trade for a pitcher at the deadline. Wake is getting hammered by the o's and his era will probably be over 5 by the time this game is over. He is clearly done and cannot field his position. I repeat: We need a pitcher. Not a right fielder.
    Posted by redsoxpride34
Agree that we need a pitcher.

If Salty could have handled the strikeout pitch, he would be out of this inning.

They needed Wakefield to come through tonite after the marathon game last night and he is not doing it. Please Theo enough, not worth 5 million a year.

Wakefield does suc#, so tired of watching him and that stupid pitch that flattens out, Retire already. This team is trying to eliminate Roger Clemens as the all time winning pitcher. The only thing is it will take Wakefield about 5 years to pass him.

But why wait for 7 runs to cross?  I guess it happened so fast it kind of gave Tito whiplash, the pen couldnt get warm quick enough

Because he was trying to get him a win. Who gives a crap about that goal. Get the team a win.  Everyone saw he was done earlier.

Only down 1, the offense will probably come back, but ugly, very ugly. Didn't need this tonight after 16 innings.

When the knuckleball hangs, it is the easiest pitch to hit. Like T- ball. With Wake, it is happening more and more often.

Get the feeling this was a game we were not going to win. Wake did what he was suppose to do which was pitch five innings, six if he could.
