    Mort to DL

Well I guess the old phantom DL stint is in full effect

On a side note...Bard landed on the DL today with an abdominal strain...Poor kid cant catch a break. Non-Tender candidate?

Bard won't be tendered. If he is, he'll probably make over $1M.

Regarding Mort, it's good they have the Hellenic College Flu in baseball also.

georom4 - How are you basing that statement? He pitched in 13 games in May. If you take away three outings lasting a total of 3.1 IP, do you know what his numbers are in the other 21 games?

    Overall 5.34 IP 30.1 ER 18

Taking away three outings: ERA 2.67, IP 27 , ER 8

The first game, he gave up 3 ER in a 9-6 win over Oakland, giving up those runs when the game was over in the 8th inning.

The second game, when he gave up 5 ER, was the blowout (12-3) loss to the Indians.

The third game was the 17-5 blowout over the Rangers. He up the runs when the score was 17-3 in the 8th inning.

Aceves and DLT will be in tampa tonight. I imagine DLT will be optioned after the game so they can activate Aceves to pitch tomorrow.

I guess that Mortenson is hurt, but he has been pitching his way off the team for a while now.

The DL is a good idea for this guy right now even though he did throw well last night in Tampa.

Hopefully, he can clear his head and get back to being consistently better when he returns in 2 weeks.

My guess is that many pitchers would have Cy Young type numbers if you threw out their worst 3 games.
