    Move Bogaerts Back to Shortstop

The Sox need nothing as much as hitting right now, and Bogaerts needs to find his confidence. He was hitting well until he was moved out of short, the position he always wanted to play. Now he's in limbo, and he's fallen off the cliff.

So what if he makes a few more errors than Drew? It doesn't matter at this point. He needs to get back on his career path, and get back to hitting like he can.

Drew can be moved to third, if it's not too much of an imposition; otherwise, DFA him and eat the money. It's not doing any good anyway. And it's holding back a kid who could be great.

For that matter, put Holt back at third and start putting Mookie in the outfield.

We need to start thinking think about next year right now.

I agree with everything except moving Drew to third.  I would rather send drew packing

I'm fine with Xander at SS, he's talented enough to play both SS or 3b.

I would even consider bringing up a youngster like Marrero over Drew even though he has yet to see some of the best pitching.

Bogaerts to SS is a move that is intuitively obvious to even the most casual baseball fan, yet it remains an impossibility for the front office to even think about.  The tentacles of Boras are rooted deep in this organization.

Yeah, but Boras wants to keep Bogaerts at third so Merraro, another client, can play short.  It would be nice if we could make some moves without consulting Boras first.

I don't think the Sox can send Stephen Drew to the Minors without DFA'ing him. I don't think he would make it through waivers.

The Sox  would probably be best advised to put Holt at 3 B and Xander at ss---if that's what you want to do.

Keep Drew as the Utility player. DFA Herrera. I like Herrera more than Drew but you can't just give away $5 M when you can trade him for cash.

I think Holt should go to third.  That highlight clip that fox showed should remind the FO the arm strength holt has on throws from 3rd to 1st.

A Bogaerts / Holt left side is one way to get Mookie in, with Mookie in LF

RF is another.  A Holt-Bradley-Betts OF?

A third option is Mooke in CF and Bradley benched.

Of the three, one and 2 make the most sense.  And they were working Mookie in CF and RF in Pawtucket for a reason.

[object HTMLDivElement]  The tentacles of Boras are rooted deep for a reason. He is the best in the business at what he does. Baseball is a business. Most players want to maximize their earnings. Most owners want to maximize their profits. The more money Boras can get for his clients, the more clients he gets. And the more money he makes. In the end, the fans pay the bills. That is the business of baseball.

That's the problem. Last week there were two stories on how Drew is sure to come around -- one in the Globe and one in the Herald, on consecutive days.

Somebody in management really likes Drew. But it may not be the best thing for Bogaerts -- or the team -- in the long run.
