    move on from napoli

one year for napoli with a bad hip is a waste of time and money.the sox

have other options so move away from this deal and get a healthy player

    for 1st base.

Did you have a healthy player in mind or did you just start yet another Napoli thread just to be annoying?

    Casey Kotchman---he's not just a singles hitter. 12 HR's, 55 RBI---500 plate appearances.

He's been paid $3m the last two seasons.   .995 Fielding %---good duo at 1 b with Mauro.

FA no loss of prospects--perhaps $1.5 plus incentives. Even if you then sign Nap you've got a late inning replacement. If Ortiz doesn't answer the bell you have Nap as the DH.

Kotchman & Gomez would hit a combined 27 hrs 83 rbis. Get it done

Kotchman plays at least 140 or so games a yer.  I'm sure he'd rather not platoon, but as LHH he'd get the bulk of the time.

kotchman may not want to platoon, but he hit .220 last year and last i looked not many starting first basemen hit .220.   if he had hit .300 he would not be a platoon player and he also would not still be unsigned.

gomez should still get the majority of ABs at first base even if he and kotchman start the season with the sox.  gomez needs a chance if they decide not to sign napoli or trade for the guy from washington whose name escapes me at the momment.

at this point the only sox fans who want napoli still signed are motivated more by trying save face for Ben that anything else...

    truly dumb

or perhaps some of us just simply trust that if signed the prognosis of a full season of health swayed the deal...Cherington's not going to sign him if the doctors don't give him the green light.

Apparently the doctors report came back and said he was fat, cant hit for average or play defense and we overpaid for him so the Sox are trying to get him down to 1 yr like the weasel of an organization we have become.

    I'll agree that you're a weasel.

Kotchman averages about 12 Hrs per 590 PAs over his career.

vs RHPs, he averages about 15 Hrs per 650 PAs.

In a tiny sample size, Gomez his 2 Hrs vs RHPs. That projects to 22 per 650 PAs. He hit 0 vs LHPs.

If Kotchman gets 350 PAs vs RHPs and 50 vs LHPs, and Gomez gets 200 vs LHPs and 25 vs RHPs, I'd expect we might get 8-9 Hrs from Kotchman and 6-7 from Gomez, for a total of about 15 in 625 combined PAs at 1B.
