Re: Mutiny by players is apparently real..

Just this year, yazz, Albert Pujols during his start of Angels career slump went over the manager's head Scioscia and got batting coach Mickey Hatcher fired because he didn't like what he was doing. How's that for power.

No one talks about it now but the Angels have been quite dysfunctional as a group. Pujols is hitting, but a lot of guys are out of sorts with who runs the team. Some think it's Pujols, not Scioscia.

Why do so many here say that the payroll is $195 mil? That is inaccurate. Posted by Calzone65
Cuz people on this forum are sheep they will make up anything to support something they know nothing about or ever could ........ Speculation becomes fact in a blink of an eye ...... Who here could possibly know ANYTHING that happens in the club house ???? Press is having the time of its life with RSN .....

Dirty, i agree about the offense, even in the final few games, the Sox scored runs and gave their team a chance to win. Pitching and the pen let them down when they absolutely needed to just pitch even average. They were beyond mediocre in that month. Also, here's another truth for the fans out there--if the Rays had not made their comeback, had Papelbon simply gone 1-2-3, or even CC caught a liner, Francona's Sox would have made the postseason..and been re-signed.

You can't be serious.  Pap blowing the save was a merciful act.  The Sox were dead meat and unworthy of going to the playoffs.  Forget that final game and look at the whole month of September.  Worst ERA in MLB.

Funny you should say the pitching let Francona down last year, but blame it all on Bobby V this year for his failure to inspire his pitchers to do a better job.  That's just not true.  The hitting is worse this year because of all the injuries--just three positions (1B, SS, and C) have stayed off the DL.

In Response to Re: Mutiny by players is apparently real.. : Pedroia must be removed from the equation. Promptly. Then the younger player like Doubront and Morales will realize that "thats not the way we do things around here".

Seriously? You want to get rid of Pedroia? Pedroia needs to suck it up, but he's still a pretty good player.

And not that it matters, but the 1919 BlackSox scandal happened because the players got so fed up with their owner and his penny-pinching ways that they felt this would be the only way they can make money off of playing MLB. So when a group of players get that frustrated, nothing good comes from it. Fire the manager, and move on. Get a guy next season who will be more a GM-Players guy who can manipulate the media and not look sleepy.

170M is not exactly a penny pinching owner.  I guess one has to believe that the players are intentionally tanking it to get rid of the manager.  Impressive.
