Liquored up deer....Pretty funny that...I hope we can all buck up this holiday season...As the monsignor at our church said earlier this evening, we really need Christmas this year....

Our priest keeps talking about how much we need Jesus back.

No question that ....The Spirit of Peace and Love will some day emerge triumphant...As Bruce Cockburn says, "Why does history takes such a long, long time...?"

Maybe if he had a rocket launcher it wouldn't take so long :-)

Why not a little youtube on Christmas eve?  Besides Bruce, I added Jackson Browne's "Rebel Jesus" (the Christmas version he did with the Chieftains) to the mix....Merry Christmas, Carnie....

Speaking of when "any of us should interfere in the business of why they are poor" (Jackson Browne's Rebel Jesus), check out these links.  I do a fair amount of work with the local Occupy movement, and I think we have accomplished some solid humanitarian goals...A lot of it just pure community social work...Occupy Sandy has done awesome work everywhere, especially in NYC and my hometown of Staten Island. If this was the Tea Party, it would be on Fox News weekly...But our governnment obviously thinks otherwise and the trumped up arrests and Nixonian dirty tricks have been going on for some time now....

Grrrrrrrrr. No need to get me more riled than I already am. Don't even get me started on the difference between america and democracy, or even republicanism. Our world is sick and IMO we need a saviour. Unfortunately none seems to be forthcoming. Capitalism won't save anyone and might even be Satan made manifest. Can we do anything in Cajun Country to help out occupy? Youse guys don't need guns do you?

Enchilada's pretty irrational about Napoli. Good guy, but given to wanting to prove he's right. Especially when he's been drinking.

There might be an Occupy group closer than you think...If not, start one...As for weapons, the Occupy movement, like the Green Party, are committed to non-violent solutions...That is why the "domestic terrorism" charges are so absurd...They are trying to use saboteurs, provocateurs and media slander to convey just the opposite...

There's not much to occupy up here bro. People pretty much take care of each other this far north. That's probably why I love it up here so much. We really do have a Christian community up here as far as I can tell. Moreso even than San Francisco. But we're here and we're Democrats. And I'm very sorry I mentioned weapons. I don't even own any weapons. I'm not sure what I was even talking about. Although maybe I could get a socialist party started up here. A green party movement could probably take up here too. Maybe if the Sox take the Yanks this year you could come up here and we could talk about it. :-) Or I could come to New York. I don't think y'all have had a great mandolin player down there since Jethro died.

Good point, monsieur...In really rural areas it is not easy to start an Occupy movement.  So go with the flow, and find out where people are at...The Green Party chapter I organized here with another woman activist was not an easy task, but now we are starting to really grow.....Anyway, it sounds like you love it up there....Like I said before, let me know when you are performing farther south, and I will try to make it....Merry Christmas, again, Monsieur Carnie...

Merry Christmas to you and yours as well GPC...

I think they could get Jones whether Naps signs or not. Hes a LHH 1b/OF who could platoon with Gomes, spell SV, and fill in at 1b for Naps. If we dont sign naps, Id like him even more. Jones isnt a FA until 2016.

Has anyone here with the ability to diagnose, seen the MRI on Napoli's hip? Didn't think so...

So while we all speculate on the severity of fact is none of us have. Here's what I do know and that's if Cherington and the Red Sox doctors felt as though the injury was

    A) Career threatening

    B) Chronic and thus will continue deteriorate...

    C) The prognosis is that surgery is likely within the next year or two?

    D) The risk of his not being able to rehab after surgery and maintian his current range of motion...

They'd have already pulled the plug. That there still in negotiation suggest that the sky might not be falling...Just saying

With all the acrimony I see here on the board it was nice to be a voyeur to the conversation between Carnie and GPC.  It's what baseball and message boards should be about IMO.  Talking baseball, making friends and sharing lives.  Thanks for you two for letting us in at Christmas time.

And BTW Carnie, Aroostook Co., huh?  Waldo County here, a bit farther South.

Pull the plug and make Napoli beg for more than a revised offer of 1 year and 15M plus an option year 2 @ 10M and a buyout of 1M.

Guarantee the second year; however, put in a clause allowing the sox to opt out if the pre-existing hip injury causes Napoli to go on the DL at any point in 2013.

Cherington should let Napoli go and instead, sign Berkman to a one-year deal.

I don't understand why Napoli isn't now jumping at whatever he can get.  If this deal falls through Napoli may as well have "DG" tattooed on is forehead, and nobody is going to want damaged goods that the Sox wouldn't take.  IMO if he doesn't take what the Sox are offering his career is essentially over unless he can get some team to take him for chump change while he tries to disprove that tatoo.

OTOH, the Sox can move on.  LarRoche is still available and there's always the possiblity of trading for someone else to play 1b.

It looks to me like the Sox are holding the winning hand here.

The Sox are probably trying to find something fair.  THey dont want to hold the guy to the fire and bring in an unhappy player.

    In response to Softlaw1's comment:

Hip problems are more serious than back problems. Mike Lowell and A-Rod are two recent cases that come to mind. One year and double digit base points is plenty for someone in the condition Napoli is in. It's no surprise that he already has a red flag season in the last stage of his career. Cherry is truly incompetent if he doesn't push Napoli and his agent around like Napoli and his agent were trying to push he and a few other GM's around. He doesn't have the goods, and the bank will need collateral for a short term investment in Napoli.

    Fair.
