next 6 games will tell alot about sox

next 6 games should say something about this season.three with the yanks
and three with the tigers.i really cant see much from this team with the
pitching staff the way it is and the yanks just get player after player that
perform well.the tigers will play better you know that.also in late august
sox go to the west coast for 9 games.sox better put some wins together
    soon or see ya later.

At the all-star break I highlighted the upcoming schedule and how it would make or break the team. After winning the first two series, they seemed to be on the right track. Then the Toronto sweep knocked the air out of their chest. Texas expectedly took two out of 3. If Yanks take 2 of 3 or heaven forbid sweep the series - that could be all she wrote. If Sox are two or 3 games under .500 at the deadline, please don't sell the farm for any players. We should be selling players to bolster the farm and the team in the future. It is an unusual position for the RS to be in, but it is what it is. Smart teams do this when they are not in contention and the Sox, make no mistake, are not in contention.

If they don't win 4 out of the 6 the team should force Crawford to get the surgery and get it over with.

Other than Ells, Pedey, and Gonz, who on the current roster would other teams actually want except maybe Buch and a few from the BP?

The next 6 games will tell nothing different than the first 99.

Texas lost Lewis for the year and Beckett could be a fit. He is, as we all know, from Texas and would embrace the change in scenery. Mid level pitching prospect (Robbie Ross - LHP), pick up $4M/Y on the rest of his contract and say good-bye.

Send Crawford and $35-40M (of the remaining $100) and find a team that is convinced he can return to form. How about the Dodgers for Garrett Gould (RHP) or the Nationals for one of Robbie Ray, Sammy Solis, or maybe Alex Meyer (LHP, LHP, and RHP).

These two are killing the team (albeit in two different ways). Take pennies on the dollar and pay to rid yourself while you can.

Beckett at 17 per is undesirable, but maybe he is at 12. Look at what the Yanks did moving Burnett. They ate 18M to cut their losses. We should do the same. Crawford is lost and overpaid, but maybe for 12 instead of 20, someone thinks they could turn him around and could add a dynamic piece to their offense for the playoff run. Sox are going to be paying these players regardless, but they can pay them less by including money in any deal to trade them.

Ross, Sweeney, Aviles, Saltalamacchia, Shoppach, Iglesias, Kalish, Lavarnway, Linares should all be in play for the right offer.

Just don't see any team, playoff contender or not, picking up Crawford with his gimp arm and needing surgery.  I can't imagine any coach being able to turn around his plate discipline.  He's not a threat on the bases, because he doesn't get on.  About as un-dyanmic as it gets.  If their is a coach out there who can work that miracle, the Sox should hire him.
