Going into Spring Training in 2015, pending any trades and minor league call-ups, the Sox have the following candidates for outfield positions:

    Bradley Jr.

    Cespedes

    Victorino

    Holt

Anyone care to offer a prediction on the outfield make-up on opening day?

Cespedes in RF at home and LF on the road, Betts will beat out Bradley if JBJ doesn't improve his ability to hit. Craig will get a lot of pt in LF at home and he will split time with Nava on the road. the rest are at best subs.

Opening day will be JBJ in CF, Cespedes in RF and Craig in LF.  I think they will give JBJ another shot at figuring it out at the plate next season (his defense obviously helps) although his leash will be short.  I think Vic's days of being an everyday player are over.  Nava and Holt to me have always profiled as subs with Holt being your classic utility guy that can play anywhere.

If JBJ doesn't put on a burst of hitting in these last few weeks, I don't see him with the
    Sox next year.

It's no longer a small sample size. Except for a short stretch, he hasn't hit much at all this season.

If I was the running the Red Sox and had my way, the outfield would be:

    Cespedes-RF

    Betts-CF

    Yelich-LF (trade via with Marlins)

    Craig Allen to 1b

Package Napoli for a young stud SP.

    Two questions:

    1.  Who would you propose trading to acquire Yelich?

    2.  Who do you think the Marlins would agree to take for Yelich?

I hope for a breakthrough for Brentz every year, but he is no longer that young (26 next year) and is kind of looking like the Middlebrooks of the OF.

We also have Bogey, Missy and Cecchini as future candidates in LF.

I'd place Corey Brown and Ramos ahead of Brentz right now.

    My projection:

(Napoli gets traded, and Craig plays 1B. Holt plays 3B.)

    LF: Betts/Nava

    CF: Cespedes/JBJ (Betts)

    RF: Victorino (Cespedes)

    My wish:

(Napoli and Vic get traded and we trade 4-5 top prospects for Stanton.)

    LF: Stanton/Nava

    CF: Betts/JBJ

    RF: Cespedes

stanton has as much chance of being in beantown next your as trout. With one of the better young  pitching staffs and surrounded by good young talent the marlins have a fighting chance for a playoff spot next year.To trade stanton would end the marlins hopes of sticking around in miami.Only so much the fans can take.

I think Napoli could be potential extend candidate this off-season.  He has been relatively healthy and no hip problems thus far.  He's one of top OBP guy in the league with power and RBI guy, played solid 1B.  Plus our players love him.  2 additional yr extension sounds reasonable with little bit of raise.  2 yr $35M extension for 17 & 18 season is fair for both team IMO.

At his age, I think we'll wait his contract out. Plus, Craig is under team control for several years and may be better suited for 1B/DH than LF. It might depend on how he looks next year on what we do with Naps.

    I agree.

Moving Craig to 1B frees up a slot for the big bopper we trade for or a combination of who remains from Betts/Holt/JBJ/Nava.

Craig screams trade me, under team control for awhile, is always hurt. Napoli will be kept around for same reasons they went to 32 million.0
