In response to "Re: Nice To See Ortiz Let Boston Media & Beancounters & Boston Fans Have it!":
There is no evidence "he failed a drug test". His name was leaked from a court ordered sealed administrative uring testing canvass that was not specific as to what and why. He is, by far, not even close to a popular player on the team. Amusingly, it is Ellsbury who has been compared to Ted Williams. Ortiz has been compared to no one, other than bigoted Boston fans like to whine about "spending the money elsewhere" when it came to Ortiz's last contract option and following FA contract market. Posted by hankwilliamsjr
Ortiz has admitted to failing a test he didn't know what for. Which either player on the Sox has there own restaurant, salsa, night club, featured in jersey commercials, espn and MLB channel promos? He is by far the most loved Red Sox.

So you claim "he flunked a steroid test". Dumbo should get past the censors on this NYT propaganda tank.

If it was not steroids it was something else. ARod failed the test and is now called ARoid. Only in Boston does this story get ignored because people love Papi. It is clear that he did something that is now against the rules.

Wrong. The test was administrative urine test that was part of collective bargaining agreement precursor to a new PED policy, not "for steroids detection". Ortiz has never violated any MLB PED policy. A-Rod admitted to using steroids.

Since there is no blood testing for HGH, my guess is that you favorite player, that's not Oritz, is likely an HGH user.

Posted by hankwilliamsjr
Ortiz is one of my favorites( my personal favorite is a 5'6" Portguese second baseman). He is the greatest active Red Sox. Do you think he did any PEDs in 2003 or earlier? He has been embraced since then and it is not a big deal but this is still clearly part of his past. This problemabably, if he ever hit 500 HR keep him out of the HOF. He is right now by far theist popular Red Sox followed closely by Pedroia. Ellsbury is clearly not a HGH user and before Paps leaving town and chickengate not in the Top 5.

Ellsbury is clearly not a HGH

With no blood testing to detect HGH users, you are clearly wrong. Ellsbury most certainly could be an HGH PED user.

    Respected, not respected.
    Popular, not popular.
    Leader, not leader.

You consider his last post a 'political commentary'????  I assume you're joking since it's such an absurd post.

If you want political commentary, why not comment on the slobbering, rabid, mean-spirited left-wing material in half the posts on BDC?  Trouble with the left-wingers is that any time you disagree, regardless of intensity, one is automatically considered 'radical'.  It's really pathetic, but it's the it is.

Re: Nice To See Ortiz Let Boston Media & Beancounters & Boston Fans Have it!

Glad to see Ortiz blast away and he was the perfect guy to do it BECAUSE the media is not always on his case.
The media needs to dial things back, and put things in perspective.
The situation with Beckett is a great example. The fried chicken and beer story was blown way out of proportion. Does the N.Y. media think C.C. is in great shape?
Have people forgotten Beckett was hurt? He tried to pitch through it and was attacked. When the media though Ellsbury was not tough enough he was attacked. So what do you do? Suck it up and go out there with nothing like Lackey did all year and get no thanks? Was it not obvious he was pitching in pain the whole year. Should he have bitched about the pain more so people could say he was making excuses, or say he was a whiner?
Going back to last year it was a miracle the Sox hung in as long as they did. By the end they had only Lester to count on. Did anyone here think they were going any place with one starting pitcher and a gassed bullpen?
