Scott Boras has stated that Swisher is as good or better than Werth, and that's where the market starts. On Ellsbury, Boras has stated that Ellsbury is a franchise player who is better than Crawford.

Stay tuned, Ben Cherrington has made it a priority to keep players like Ellsbury with the Red Sox. After trading a player that Cherrington called a great player who will show he's a great player again, expect Ben Cherrington to express serious interest in Nick Swisher, who, like Werth, is the kind of player who will be able to carry the Red Sox offense.

The Yankees have tendered a 13.3 million dollar contract to Nick Swisher.

Expect Ben Cherrington to tender a 10 million dollar contract to avoid arbitration with the great Jacoby Ellsbury, who can also carry the Red Sox offense as it's franchise player.

Expect Ben Cherrington to plead with John Henry to pay the market rate for Ellsbury's free agent years. Players are their best when they reach their thirties.

    Stay tuned.

where in either of those articles does it say jacoby is looking for 7/142??? or even a contract simillar to crawford.

think just because you made a true statement about swisher that you can lump a false statement about jacoby in there, chalk it up to half true and just round up? your pathetic

It says nowhere in either article what they are asking for. Nowhere in Ells' article does it even mention years or $$ and In swishers article all it says is he COULD ask for Jayson Werth money. So, just more speculation...

100% true, and it's not suprising that Snaked can't spell "yes".

"yep" is a colloquialism you silly hillbilly.

Please link something that says says that Swisher and Ells are seeking  contracts at that numerical amount or admit that you are nothing but a fraud.

    Thanks.

The market changes every year. GM's are not obligated to repeat other foolish GM's mistakes of the past.

Look, devil, you mental midget, softlaw is right. Google "seeking" before you make a stupid comment about what current market value v. past market value. Unfortunately, softlaw is correct that our stupid GM was part of the GM administration that set the new market for jitterbugs like Carl Crawford. Doesn't mean they will get that much, but they will seek more than that.

Re: Nick Swisher and Jacoby Ellsbury Seeking 7 years and 126 and142 Million Dollar Contracts

A silly OP, really.  Of course Boras is going to make big talk.  That's what he does and what his players pay him to do.  And sometimes it works--see that mind-bogglingly stupid contract the Yankees gave ARod.  Or, for that matter, the amount the Sox were prepared to overpay Carl Crawford before he was shuffled off to the West Coast.

I have no doubts there will be suitors for Ellsbury, but have very serious doubts anyone will offer him 7 years or $20M a year, let alone 7 X $20M.  Boras asks for a lot because then good enough will still richly reward Ellsbury.

I am like many other Sox fans an Ellsbury fan, but one needs pretty big blinders not to see that Ellsbury has had exactly one great season, 2011, and a bunch of seasons that might justify $10M a year but not for 7 years.  Granted the two injuries were freakish, they still give one pause.  If the Sox can get a good starter in return, trading Ellsbury makes sense.  If they can't, keeping him for one more year also makes sense because maybe he will have a big year and the Sox will benefit, even if they can't keep him.  Plus they apparently have a pretty good CF waiting in the wings.

Cody Ross is sounding better every day along with Josh Hamilton. Sign Cody Ross will be the next step For the Sox. And just wait and see what the arbitration come into the scene then i will be convince what Els real value will be. Sounds like Boras is talking the the talk to make an extra dollar on commission. i wonder if Boras use to be an use car salesman.

It is more likely that Ross could get more $$$ from elsewhere since the OF is the better and deepest pool of players than all other position from Hamilton to Ross to Swisher to Pagan to Melky to Bourn to Upton to others.

That is why I hope Boston just sign him now where it is more likely a better and lesser deal than these guys above.
