    Swisher sucks in my opinion.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports the Indians have "checked in on" free agent Nick Swisher.

The Indians likely have no chance at signing Swisher, but it's clear that he's in high demand. As many as five teams have expressed "serious interest" in the 31-year-old outfielder, including the Red Sox, Mariners and Rangers. Related: Indians   Source: FOXSports.com Nov 25 - 11:00 PM

southpaw that is lame to sign a player just because he has good numbers over a whopping 24 game period. You need to check your brain. We don;t need him.

    [/QUOTE]

Im not wanting to sign him over 24 games...Thats what my comment was all about. Hes a RH power bat that pulls the ball...Those kind of hitters do good in Fenway...see Cody Ross...

Now, Im all in for a 3yr deal for reasonable $$. But I understand its FA and usually requires a slight overpay. Theres not much out ther this year...We need a 1b and napoli could fill that place nicely for a couple years then switch to DH when papi leaves.

Not sure how you misunderstood my comment. It was pretty clear...

Let's not sign Hamilton or Greinke or Napoli or Swisher. Let's ignore them and say this is a weak free agent class.  Let's make every excuse for Ben C.  Let's save John Henry money. Let's wait for a better free agent class.  Who cares if we are competitive in 2013  ?  It is just a " bridge year ." After all , we will have a great team in 2014 and beyond,  when our " kids " blossom into stars. And  if they don't , we will always have another crop of " kids " coming along.  We can string ourselves along for quite a while with this thinking.  It will continue to be interesting for the would- be G.M.s and fantasy experts, while the Red Sox continue to struggle.   Don't take a risk and spend money on the top players.  Let other teams do that,  while we wait for the right moment.  This seems to be the thinking of many of our resident " experts ."   Good luck with that.

THe important thing here is that he manages to find this message board culpable for anything the team does.

Yes, the sarcastic "experts" at the end really helps drill home the point that he has lost all touch with reality, and yet still thinks of himself as the island of sanity

And the REALLY STUPID PART is that he is actually not alone in this behavior.

I need some help developing an emoticon that looks like a frustrated guy pointing a gun at his on head.  Any thoughts?

no dice bill, saw an interesting piece today on why that WONT happen. and for good reason. young, homegrown, cost controlled (lesters contract is a bargain compared to market value on SP these days.) pitchers are a commodity. and we need as much pitching as we can get. i would take our offense the way it is RIGHT NOW if we could improve our staff to the calibur it was in 04 and 07.

if anything, it will be the other way around and we will be sending OF help to the royals for pitching

    Indeed.

There's a big difference between not freaking out because the offseason's business isn't concluded in two weeks and "accepting a lousy team." (Not that Geo hasn't had this explained to him a hundred times before.)

LOL! have to disagree with you on swisher though, he is a good ball player, switch hitter, versatile (which we need in case the injury bug strikes again), good clubhouse guy. exactly what this team needs. if you don't like him just because he was a yankee then thats on you. doesn't negate the fact that he would immensely help this team.
