Not a great start for Doubront

Doubront has a shoulder strain. Will not throw for a week. How does a guy come into camp and have a shoulder issue?

He tweaked it throwing at camp on the day he arrive. He also double his highest amount of total innings which is never ideal.

Farrell said he was little bit aggresive on long throws.  I think he will be fine.

Wowzers.  Some of you are a rabid pack of dogs waiting for any scrap of neagtive meat to chew on.  Guys over-throwing or tweaking something in the first days of camp are hardly news.  And, since the gear up is so slow at this point, coaches are over cautious and say things like "he'll be out for a week or two" for a hangnail.

not to mention its an extended camp because of the WBC..

this is hardly an issue. the team assigned him a throwing program to do over the offseason, he completed it. He experienced some discomfort during long toss, not the end of the world. If he tore something on the other hand then we can start crying. but until then SHUUUUT UUUUP!

I stubbed my toe yesterday.  Do you question my conditioning and my constitution?

Hopefully Valentine didn't do any damage him with overuse.

two days, two pitchers down with strains..impressive...meanwhile excusemakers are saying Doubront has never pitched so many innings before..161

    he's 25 years old...

Bob Feller at 22  ...320 innings...and he threw a lil harder than our porcelain dolls...the next year his arm was so tired that he only pitched 345 innings

    bootlickingly inane

Rule of 30.  You aren't supposed to exceed you previous year by more than 30 innings.  He had 105 and 88 in the previous two years.  I didn't see any reason to push him to 161.  He seems strong enough, but it was an unnecessary risk.
