Hmmm. Socialist. Socialism. Methinks there are some here who do not understand what socialism is. Of course, I understand that it is a fantastically loaded Scarlet Letter of a broadstroke accusation to throw around, one that has been politically effective for about a century now. But, Obama is about as Socialist as ...as ... well ... howsabout Richard Nixon (nah, actually, reading this, Obama makes Nixon look like Trotsky):

Not to mention Nixon-era tax rates on the top bracket. Talk about commie (shoot, Comrade reagan while you are at it). I suppose Obama is kind of Socialist for wanting to return the top bracket tax rate back to Comrade Reagan's level.

Of course he's not a Socialist, that's laughable. Socialists wouldn't support Wall Street and Motown with the best part of a trillion bucks. He's a Nazi and a Communist (though how one could be both is a head-scratcher) if I remember the protesters' signs from a few years back correctly. ;-)

A superficial and pathetic analysis that shows you have no idea who runs this country or this team.
Lucchino is the problem, Cherry is his puppet. Cherry goes, another Lucchino puppet comes in. Nothing fundamental changes.
Same thing with the politics you spew in this forum. Romney has no more idea how to create jobs than Obama. Private sector job growth is globalized now and the middle class has been gutted. Multi-national corporations run this show for their investors. Neither your guy or the guy you can't stand can solve this trend. Mitt certainly has no idea how to create the vast job growth needed, he only knows how to create a handful of executive jobs. The rest goes to the lowest bidder. Supply side economics doesn't work in this economy. But I doubt you even know what that is.
The only parallel between national politics and the Red Sox management is that you understand neither.

If you don't think the U.S.A and the Boston Red Sox are both in a serious state of decline , then you have probably not been paying attention. I am not going to get involved in the discussion of who is to blame, just stating what should be obvious to all.

"Forward" over a cliff of debt that is half of all the debt in National history is not forward!!
Peter "Ham" talking about what Cherry needs to do to "fix it". The first order of business needs to be getting rid of the Architects who created the disaster!
It's been four years of embarrassing record debt and disaster for the Nation and the Red Sox and both Osama Obama and Cherry need to accept responsibility and tender their resignations. The audacity to ask for more years!
Trotter, while I agree with you that both Obama and Cherington have to go because they are in over their heads, to lump them together in numerous posts seems silly to me. Perhaps there should be a political thread. As for Obama, he does not deserve a second term because he has been close to a failure in his first term. Just look at these things....
1. Fewer people are working today than when Obie took over---hundreds of thousands less
2. There has been over a doubling of gas prices.
3. There are more people on foods stamps than ever before; over double the amount.
4. We have had the first credit downgrading in our history and that includes the Great Depression.
5. GDPis at 1.5, lowest ever.
6. We have gone $16 trillion in debt, more in 3.5 years than during Bush's eight years.
7. Iran will soon go nuclear and Obama will do absolutely nothing about it but talk about how he can't allow that but will.
No was he should be relelected with 8.1 unemployment and if you add those who have simply stopped looking for work, another added 2.5 to that total, and if you add those who are only working at part time jobs, add another 3.0%. That's an abomination. However, he is favored to be re-elected even with those miserable statistics because Mitt Romney has not made his case to the people. He has not only done that; he has allowed the Democrat Party and Obie to define him the past two months. He must reverse this radically this Wednesday or we will have Obama in for four more years.
Keep also in mind that business is reported to be sitting on over two trillion dollars which they will not invest because they do not trust the guy. Can you imagine if they keep holding the money and we go into another deep recession. There will be buyer's remorse galore and those who voted for Obie will deserve every reverse and kick in the a@s they get. Unfortunately, so will many of us who did not vote for him and never would. It is up to Romney is these debates.
The "Audacity of Hopelessness from Incompetence" should be the life story of these two inept and unaccountable incompetents!
"We're not who we want to be yet"
"I will go through the budget, line by line, and cut the deficit in half"
Words of incomptents and frauds.
These ecnomic incompetent arrogant unaccountable losers need to get it handed to them.

Better than fall of 2008 and spring of 2009.
Could we be doing even better? Of course, but partisan politics an infision of extremists from both ends of the spectrum has not helped. Redistricting House districts has created a situation where the primary is the real election, and so many candidates today do not have to compromise and are often chastized or run out of office if they do. That makes it hard to get anything accomplished from either side of the aisle.
I think it does matter to look at other countries and back on our own history and see what happens to economies that try austerity or spending their way out of a recession or near depression. History does offer valuable lessons.
Bush cut taxes before any agreement was made on curbing spending. He & Congress lessened banking regulation, and look what happened. Romney wants to cut taxes even more, lessen regulation again, and offers no specific ideas on what he is going to cut. It's a shell game. Obama is not better even with a different almost equally unclear plan for the next 4 years. Neither will have any success if fillibusters continue as they have the last 2 years.

They won't give it a chance because socialist get elected saying we don't need austerity we can just have Germany pay for it. Down the road this will push Germany out of the EU and leave countries with ton of debt and a worthless currency.
Austerity is being force-fed to several counties. Let's watch to see if moving their balanced budgets in the right direction creates more jobs. Currently, Spain has a 25% unemployment rate and it is getting worse.

Europe is a prime example of why Austerity doesn't work.
You can't quit cold turkey, just like someone addicted to Alcohol or Benzo's will die from withdrawl when you take too much money out of the economy you will sufficate it. Europe is commiting economic suicide.
This doesn't come without saying that the Gov't (s) need to reduce their exposure and drawl down the amount as a % that they contribute to the economy but it should happen AS the economy is growing.....unless of course you don't mind that millions of people will suffer and likely bring down the walls....but hey they are just a bunch of lazy bums right SOFTY???? "let them eat cake"
You need pro growth strategies, and then when the economy grows you reduce the gov't exposure. and NO a gov't is not the same thing as a business, so people need to stop making that argument.
