ho hum, here come the "they can't fill their stadium" posts.

hey, soxpastfan08,   as the "person who lives in tampa" - who do YOU root for when the Bruins or the Sox come to Tampa??? Are you wearing the home team jersey or putting on your boston gear?

umm i wear my boston gear, ive lived in lots of places in this country and have been a boston fan i was raised that way and will always be that way. im not a tampa fan at all i have nothing against the teams but not really a fan of them. the trop is in an awful area and people just do not go out there, if it was by the times forum on this side of the bay they might sell out..

well, tampa and st. pete are saturated with the folks who have lived someplace else and root for the team they grew up with, the team they have always rooted for, the team their fathers rooted for, the team their grandfathers rooted for.

we get it, don't trash us, it hasn't even been 15 years!!!!!!!

If the Tampa Bay Rays keep winning and stay within their budget, why is their attendance relevant?

The Red Sox have 712 consecutive sellouts at Fenway Park, including 243 over the past three seasons, but what recent success do the Sox have to show for it? The Sox have been competitive with 274 regular-season wins over the last three years, but have failed to win a postseason game over that period.

actaully if the rays play the yankees in the ALCS those games will sell out.. there is a very strong Yankee fan base in tampa since their spring training is here

My brother has also lived in many areas and still roots for Boston teams.  He currently lives in Florida and has many friends that are from MA, NY, etc and are fans of the Red Sox, Yankees, Celtics, etc.  You don't just move to an area and become fans of another team.

The Rays sold out opening day (34K) and never again. (At least they called it a sellout. They did draw $40+ K a couple years back.)

They drew 29K last night (the only Sept game in the top 5 at the Trop) and 32K on July 16th.

The Rays should move to North Carolina... a place that loves baseball and isn't full of transplant residents with long held other team allegiances.

If you saw the location of their stadium, neither the Yanks nor Sox could sell out.

Definitely agree that the Rays would have a much better fan base if they were located in a large city where people need a MLB team.
