Not really. When you despise fully one third of the team, there will always be someone to latch onto and bash into oblivion.

Its no secret.  he is back in his lab (read:  mom's basement) trying with all his lawyerly intelligence to formulate a new line of attack on Ellsbury since every one of his previous attacks has been pulverized.

Its no secret that Ellsbury was part of the 2011 record collapse. It is also no secret that when you combine 2010 to career year in 2011 and you don't get much. It is also no secret that Ellsbury will soon be somone's Crawford mistake. Career averages define a player and a swing, not career years in front of Pedroia and Agon.

    So, what's Jake's "career norm"?

After 2008, you said Coco had more potential than jake, because he had two better years in Cleveland. You said jake would continue is career norm"  in 2009. His career norm then was .346/.413/.759.
    He had a .770 OPS in 2009.

After 2009, you said he'd have a career norm season over the next few years. His career norm then? .350/.414/.764.
    He had a .928 OPS in 2011.
    His 2010-2011 OPS? .881
Yeah, that's real close to  "career norm".

So, now his "career norm is .354/.452/.807.
His career norm OPS has risen from .759 to .807.
Should we go by your "Career norm" projection of 2008, 2009, 2010, or 2011?

Do you have wheels on your goalposts?

The real Law (who predicted everything) is here.

Didn't Law tell anyone who'd listen that Theo was overrated, Varitek would tank the Sox clubhouse, Wakefield is useless, Lackey was the worst of the FA pitchers out there and that Epstein imploded two World Series championship teams too soon?

Wasn't that Law who predicted the more authority Theo Epstein got over the Red Sox roster, the farther the Sox would fall out of contention?

    Law called it perfectly.

2008 - Sox lose ALCS because of Theo's meddling.
2009 - Sox don't even MAKE the ALCS
2010 - Sox win NO AL playoff games
2011 - Sox don't even MAKE the postseason

Actually, Ellsbury was the only good thing about the Sox during the September collapse, during which he had 8 dingers and 21 rbi's--far and away the best producer on the team and much better than Ortiz's paltry 1 dinger and 8 rbi's.
Looking back on that terrible month, one can make a strong case that both Pedroia and AGon probably should have batted in front of Ellsbury, who only led MLB in total bases.

You are seriously combining 2010 with 2011?  Oh, now I remember.  You were the one who said those rib injuries were all fake--something drummed up by Scott Boras because Francona played Cameron in CF.

Yes he is - we hope... I expect his HR total to drop some but as a player he should improve or maintain on his other averages.

ahh yes, let us combine a year entirely lost to injury to a career year to get ... um .. a ... sense .. of ... hmmmmm ... you are right it isnt much ... but ... why is it remotely meaningful?

And yes career averages, lets get real.  I want to judge a player on career averages ... but ... maybe wait until there is more than 3 full years in order to not not sound silly talking about career averages? ... No?  ... no ... of course not ...
