One of these 3 Teams ...

Are most likely to win the WS IMO

    Red Sox

    Detroit

    LAD

Perhaps Tex as well. I don't feel it for Atl.

Not sure about Detroit unless Verlander straightens out before then.

    Red Sox

    Dodgers

    Cardinals

    * Pirates??

Would like to see the Pirates in the mix, but they get a star because it is my wishful thinking to mix things up a bit. Dodgers have three first rate starters so they should go far, although Kershaw struggled in his last start but that does not mean it is a trend.

If Buholz comes back and continues his dominance, I think Sox have a pretty good shot at the title.

steven, I always liked you as a good objective baseball fan. Myself, I'd love to see a dodgers redsox world series. I think those two teams really match up. good post man.

Only if the Pirates win the division.  i cant foresee them getting the wildcard spot and head all the way to WS.

2013 odds show tigers and dodgers in the show, but I like what I'm seeing from the red sox... they are getting hot at the right time after a cool spell

I agree that would be a great matchup.....I have heard some MLB Network guys say that the Sox may have won 2 of 3 in LA but they did not face Kershaw or Greinke...but Greinke is 2-4 against us in his career(albeit with a under 3 ERA)....and we have never faced Kershaw....so I dont see them as unbeatable...I think, if we win the division, then our challenge will come in getting by the Tigers....if they get hot with the bats, it will be hard to stop them....I could also see us having to play TB if they win the WC, because they have the pitching to get by Detroit....if we dont win the division, then getting through the WC game and home field disadvantage in the next round would make it tough for us to go the WS.

As many people have pointed out, the Dodgers did not do much against Boston's pitchers.  Even if the Sox did have to face Kershaw and Greinke, they still might have won since the Dodgers weren't scoring many runs themselves.

I think every team in the playoffs has a good shot at the WS, so that's ten teams.  I do not disagree that the three best right now are probably the Dodgers, Tigers, and Red Sox, but to me baseball is just too unpredictable.  In 1954 the Indians set a new record for wins in a season, 110 I think (154 game season), and the Giants took them in 4.

It is whatever team is hot, not always the best team.  The cards proves that not too long ago

I pick the Red Sox vs. the Cardinals in the World Series.

My second pick would be the Oakland A's vs. the Cardinals.

The Braves will be eliminated in the first round..................again.  If the Red Sox played in the NL East this year, then their record would be 95-41.   LOL

The Rangers are looking very good- as are the Cards.

    I'd rank them this way:

    1) Detroit

    2) LAD

    3) StL

    4) BOS

    5) TEX

    6) TBR

    7) ATL

    8) CIN

    9) OAK

    10) PIT

One site has this for the odds:

Odds to win the 2013 World Series

    Detroit Tigers 6/1

    Atlanta Braves 7/1

    Los Angeles Dodgers 7/1

    St. Louis Cardinals 15/2

    Boston Red Sox 8/1

    Tampa Bay Rays 17/2

    Oakland Athletics 9/1

    Pittsburgh Pirates 12/1

    Cincinnati Reds 14/1

    Texas Rangers 14/1

I think this was updated early August.
